Yeah. But I kept being forced to do things I don't want.

A big monster wolf us running around killing everyone.

[He's not used to that level of bluntness when talking about things like that outside his "pack".]

[Well, yeah. That's the dumbest thing he could've said but you caught him off-guard.]

[Well by now the creature is pretty well know. You don't order a curfew without good reason.]

I'm pretty sure it isn't normal. A dozen persons or so doesn't get killed by animals normally.

Hold on. Why is there a monster wolf running around killing people? Is it... you know, like... for a weird reason?

[Magic, he wants to say. But Keegan's too used to keeping quiet about things like that.]

I don't know that much... I just know what Theo told me. It's not a natural creature. It's a scientific experiment. By the Dread Doctors.

You need a normal life more than I do. And I've wanted one since forever.

Yeah... I don't see coming here would improve my situation at all. I had a normal life until recently when my boyfriend became some scorpion hybrid and injured me.

I didn't know anything like that existed until recently. I had a normal life with homework, play and boyfriends. Turned out it wasn't like I thought it was. I'm an abomination, a failed experiment.

I don't know what to tell you. [He's not being unkind but Keegan shrugs nonetheless. He really doesn't know. He's a born werewolf who grew up dealing with the supernatural.] You get used to it? If you don't die, I guess. I usually have to worry about the weird stuff along with late homework. My brother's always on my case about stuff like that.

[He looks a little unhappy about that. He had already died once, and it hadn't changed anything. ]

I've probably said too much already... but I'm a chimera, one of the doctors experiments.

Like... an actual chimera? The only ones I've heard of are in super old Greek myths.

[He shifts uncomfortably.]

I'm not sure what counts as chimera. I only know the Dread Doctor's used genetic chimeras to make experiments, supernatural hybrids. I didn't know I was different until a few weeks ago. I don't look like a mythical chimera... I'm not like them at all.

Is that seriously the name they gave themselves? The Dread Doctors.

I mean, I'm sorry. It must suck, dealing with that. [No one ever said Keegan was good at being eloquent. But he's sincere about it.] How were they able to do that? Without you noticing.

It might not be the name they chose but it's what they're called. They inspire dread.

Yeah it sucks. These doctors can make your mind supress certain memories. They exist outside of the normal phase and they're immortal.

Immortals. Of course. [He nods like he doesn't even need further explanation than that.] In my experience, they're a problem when they get bored. They always have to mess with something that comes back and ruins other people's lives.

According to Theo they want the Beast's power for themselves.

I have no idea what that is or what it means. [Beauty and the Beast is the only thing coming to mind. But Keegan doubts there will be any candlestick holders coming over to sing with the dinnerware.] But I'm guessing Theo's your friend.

Theo is my Alpha. "Friend" is stretching it. The Beast is just a name we use for the monster wolf. It's actually the reincarnated Beast of Gévaudan.

That sounds like something I should know. Wait, hold on. [He's gonna google it on his phone. Ping.] Oh... Right. Wasn't there a movie about this that had Anthony Hopkins in it?

[He's gonna google that too. As he talks, frowning.]

Bell might know something about it. She'll probably want a percentage of your soul for the info though, so I wouldn't bother asking.

It's not from a movie. It's an actual monster which have killed dozens of people. [He frowns]

I didn't say it was from a movie. Sorry my brain made a random connection. [And since he googled it:] The movie's called The Wolfman, which I only watched because my best friend thought it was hilariously inaccurate.

[And hilariously not, after being schooled about the dangers of what could happen to lone werewolves.]

I'm assuming you guys are going to stop the actual monster from killing more people.

Theo wants to kill it and steal its powers. I guess it kinda stops the murders. But he isn't doing it out of the goodness of his heart. Unlike Scott, another Alpha. A werewolf one.

Wait. There's two alphas in your town? How does that even work?

Three actually... A very old female werewolf called Satomi, my Alpha Theo and Scott. They get along tho. Theo is a chimera like me so I guess it's not the same? I don't know much about packs... He just told us that he's our Alpha.

Three? [Excuse Keegan for sounding shocked.] Where I'm from, that would start a fight. Not that anyone's stupid enough to come into my brother's territory...

I've never heard of chimeras, so I don't know if they usually run in packs... [It's anyone's guess if they ever existed outside how they were created...] But it should be safer if all of you are in a group, though, right?

Yes. As far as I know there isn't any issues... but I haven't been a supernatural long.

Theo is a werewolf-hybrid. I don't know what's normal for chimeras. But I guess we're safer in a group.

Yeah... You said something about finding out not too long ago. Sorry, I can't be much help. I'm not "old enough" [ -- He makes the air quotations with his fingers, rolling his eyes with a scowl --] to help out with the serious stuff in my pack yet. I'm 16 already, not 6.

Groups are always safer. That's what I've always been taught but I'm all wolf, so... [Shrug.] All I can really do is wish you good luck, I guess. So, uh. Good luck?

Thanks. I'm not part wolf at all. So I don't get a lot of why packs are important. But I'm human too. And with everything going around... Although I'd prefer not to be in the heat of everything.

[He winces slightly at the word heat. Getting burned alive had kinda stuck with him.]

I don't know why it's important either. My aunt says it's instinctive. We're supposed to run together. But my brother says it's because we've been conditioned to. It's an old-fashioned mentality. Not that he said that when my aunt was around. I'm not sure who I agree with.

Well... If Theo's a good alpha, he'll keep everyone safe.

He's 17... But he's a werecougar-hybrid. All I got is somewhat enhanced strength, fast healing and camouflage. I don't got any fancy powers like Tracy or Josh. I'm not a werejaguar like Hayden. I don't got any chance against him... pretty sure the other guys would back him up if I tried anything!

I don't want to fight. I want to just leave.

[He kicks the ground]

I also own my life to him. I got killed by the Dread Doctor's and Theo revived me.

[His conflicted feelings regarding bullies who happen to alphas goes dead quiet at that last part.]

Killed? How is that...? [Because, from where he's standing, Corey looks very much alive.]

You know those Dread Doctors I told you about? Well they saw me as a failure after I started bleeding mercury. So they hunted me down and killed me. Theo somehow revived me and three others. I don't know how... but he wanted a pack.

That sounds so messed up.

You don't have to be a jerk to your pack to get them to do what you want, you know. If they respect you, they'll listen.

It's a tough world out there. Only the strong prevail. If he doesn't fight then he's at high risk of getting killed by someone.
