Life, dreaming and death?
You do get that I don't need to be here, don't you? This is a power struggle between factions on a bloody turtle's back, not part of the Rising Darkness. Those rumours of Lucy abandoned Hell are just that - rumours. Daddy dearest wouldn't let his favourite whipping boy leave Hell. Who would there be to blame everything on then? Cheated on the wife? Devil made me do it. Stole a car? Same.
Same as those murmurs of Malicant or the Daseng group. I'd fear that funeral director posing as the innkeep for the Midnight Hotel instead of them. Same with his 'staff' of the wolf-woman and faerie. Even if the faerie wasn't someone I'd kick out of bed. What? How was I supposed to know that the wolf-woman didn't want to be called a 'bitch'? It's an old language! Can't be blamed that 'dog' and 'hound' translated the same.
If I'm needed here, can't say that I'm happy about it. That Anton Shudder at the Midnight Hotel claims there's no smoking. No drinking. That's not going to happen. Best I can promise is to keep it quiet.
Trust me! Would I lie?

Please forgive the lack of icons. I made this account as soon as I saw this post >_>
No worries!
[He pays no mind to the accusation of lying. Getting into a squabble with the good detective isn't as much fun without something to needle him with. Besides, with all Jim went through with The Man, John can afford to be what passes for polite in normal society.]
You should come by sometime. Some of it is like you being a copper. Everyone stares at you suspiciously and expect some sort of show.
I was waffling between Jimmy and Chaz. Couldn't decide who would annoy Constantine more XD
Might just do that. God knows I can't just go back to drunk and disorderly's and women who fell down stairs that look like their boyfriends' fist, can I?
[He shakes his head. His career was practically over the night he met Constantine. He may as well do something with his life.]
Jim would annoy him far more. Chas would be driving a taxi over the turtle shell.
[John knows that barely there laugh, has heard himself utter it before. What it means more importantly.]
I warned you, Jimmy. Can't unsee the things you have. Best to learn to live with it. Double shots of gin works wonders. Just have to find a good way to sneak it in on the turtle if you're at the Hotel where I am. Not like it's hard. You might need a challenge given how you've been a cop too long. Keep the mind sharp instead of rule stupid.
Pfft. Glad I chose wisely, then.
Makes me wonder if that death Zed saw for me'll stick or not. She'd look at me and it felt like someone was walkin' over my grave.
[Jim couldn't help it. Justice was his to dispense. Hell, it was practically his duty as a cop to do what he could, but killing The Man had been something else. Here was someone who had a choice whether or not to do evil, and he chose it without hesitation.]
I'm sure I'll figure it out. Mun's givin' the place a once-over as we speak. He's got 'nother iron in fire somewhere else, but you caught him right when he was gettin' reacquainted with you and your misadventures in the mill house.
He could use a taxi driver. John's truck is that busted down rig. You've seen it.
[And in this case, John doesn't. He's found himself helplessly dragged from fighting the Rising Darkness to here. No Zed, no Chas, no Mill. Best he has is a hotel when he gets grumbled at for his smoking and drinking. Not like those are going to stop anytime soon. Most might welcome someone who could define 'John Constantine' in terms they could understand.]
Well, the accepted part just happened, so I'll be there if you make it. Good luck, mate.
I have. If I knew any other Constantine fans, you know?
[Jim nods. Even if he can't be a cop, he can still dispense justice. John had given him the nudge he needed to put his black-and-white morality to the test.]
Mun'll give it his best. He'll probably need a couple o' days to figure it all out. He's been outta the game a while, still gettin' his sea legs back with all o' this.

Take your time, Jimmy Boy. None of these people know who I am. They all think I'm an odd duck but nothing to be concerned about.

Heh, but you an' I know better, don't we?
[His smile is grim, almost skull-like.]
I'll keep your secrets, if I turn up over there. As long as you keep mine.
