I know you have other muses on your plate as well, but I'm really happy to be here with you. [Stop being adorable, Maria. She also almost forgot to address something, so she goes on.] Ah! Before I forget, I want to thank you for showing me how wonderful Earth is with all the places to go and things to see. What else? Hmm. Oh oh! And for introducing me to the people in your headspace too. I'll return the kindness all of you have shown me, I promise that, especially to you Miss Mun.

[She's so excited right now with her giggling softly and trying very hard to contain it, but then her thoughts wander to the people who mean the most to her.]

I can't wait to tell Shadow and grandfather about everything. Do you think we can do that thing what most Earth families do? What was it called again? ...Oh right! A family vacation. I wonder where we should go? A botanical garden sounds nice... Maybe some amusement parks? Or a zoo? Goodness, there's so many choices and I can't just decide on one. [She ponders.] Ah ha, I have a solution. We'll go around the world in 80 days just like that book you gave me. That sounds exciting, right? We should get going right away! I'm sure we'll find Shadow and grandfather along the way too!

[Another hedgehog? This one is female and she seems nice enough, so she smiles at Amy.]

No, I only read about them in books back on the ARK with Shadow. [She also perks up a bit at Amy talking about them being friends and her mun saying hello.] It's nice to meet you and your mun too, I'd also love for us to become friends. My name's Maria, what's your name?

My name's Amy! Wait, Shadow? Black hedgehog with red stripes? I think I've met him over at a place called Nautilus. But, it might be a different Shadow...it's a bit strange over there. [ That's putting it lightly Amy ] Where's the ARK? Is it a flying ship? Or is it like Little Planet?

Yes! That's him! [She perks up a bit more when Amy mentions seeing Shadow.] You've seen him? Is he all right? He's not doing anything dangerous, is he?

[Maria, calm yourself down before you start having a coughing fit that you already almost had before. So that's what she's trying to do now, being a sick girl is not fun. She's also really concerned about finding Shadow.]

I-I'm sorry Amy, I didn't mean to ask so many questions... Shadow is my dearest friend and I really hope I can find him. [She feels bad now for bombarding Amy with so many questions, so she answers her questions in return.] To answer your questions though, it's a Space Colony above the Earth. I've also never heard of Little Planet before, is that where you're from?

[ Amy frowned and reached out when she started coughing. That doesn't sound good. ] You okay there? Well, I can't say I know him very well. He seems to keep to himself mostly. Kind of a loner? Is that like your Shadow?

[ A space colony? Amy gasps! That sounds incredible! ] Wow! And not quite. I was raised near Never Lake, on Planet Mobius - but the Little Planet is an entire world that appears above the lake once a month! If you're on there when it disappears, you can't get back to Never Lake until the next month. But it's a lovely place to visit! Really green and not very populated, so it's great for a holiday.

I'll help you find him, don't worry. [ She smiles and gently touches Maria's back ] And I'd love to show you around Mobius, or explore Earth together!

[Maria gives Amy a small warm smile.]

I'll be fine... I'm used to it because I'm ill. There's no need to worry about me. [She tilts her head.] A loner? Shadow? He never acted that way around me, we did almost everything together.

[Had Shadow changed since she last saw him? That can't be right. Maybe Amy was right and this Shadow was different to hers. Instead of dwelling on it, she instead focuses on the topic at hand.] I'd love that too, Amy. Mobius sounds incredible too, I'd love to visit it with you.

[ Ill? The way she said it was like she'd been ill for a long time...she couldn't hide a little frown at that. But it seemed that Maria didn't linger on it, so she wouldn't either. ]

Then what are we waiting for? Have you ever been to a cafe before? That might be a good start, if you fancy a drink or something to eat. Or just a walk through nature! [ Maybe not a hike, but a casual stroll along a beach or through woods might even help Maria's health! ]

[Maria sees Amy frowning a little, but she knows she doesn't have much time left to live because of her NIDS even though her grandfather is so close to a cure. Still, she didn't want to focus on that.]

I'd love to go to a cafe, I've heard they have very good food and drinks. But a walk through nature sounds lovely too, I've always wanted to visit a park with Shadow and my grandfather.

Hmm...Maybe we should wait for your grandad and Shadow to do that one then. I wouldn't want to take away from them experiencing it with you for the first time! What sort of things do you like to drink? [ Amy began to walk towards the nearest cafe, matching Maria's pace. ]

[Poor sick girl can't run much at all, but she tries to walk a bit faster than her usual waking speed as they make their way to a cafe.]

Hmm... Not much other than different types of tea and hot chocolate. I did ask grandfather if I could try the coffee he drinks one time, but he said I'm too young to have it.

You're not from Earth? Then where are you from?

[She blinks at Silver for a brief moment. He kind of looks like Shadow, but a different color... That's a bit odd. Is he related to Shadow in some way? Hmm, how curious indeed.]

I'm from the Space Colony ARK, but... [She tilts her head.] Who are you? And why do you look like Shadow? I don't remember ever seeing you on the Space Colony before.

I've never been on a space colony.

My name is Silver. I'm not sure why we'd look alike, maybe because we're both hedgehogs.

[She frowns a little and looks both concerned and a bit upset, so she was right about him being another hedgehog after all and she might have possibly hurt his feelings with what she said. Oh god, what has she done?]

O-Oh I see. So your name is Silver? Well it's very nice to meet you and I'm sorry for saying you looked like my dear friend Shadow. Your eyes and facial features made me instantly think of him... I'm very sorry again for the mistake, please forgive me.

[Oh Maria.]

[ He holds his hands up. ] It's no problem. Really!

If he's your friend, you must be looking for him. I can keep a look out for you?

[She smiles warmly at Silver now and nods at him.]

I'm glad and yes, I am. My mun told me I might be able to find him here, but I haven't found him yet. [She lights up at Silver's words.] You would do that for me? Oh thank you! That would mean the world to me... Thank you so much.

[ Please excuse this hedgehog as he merely stares in content absorption at this small lady. Why, he's met her before, here and there, and while her sudden presence might no longer make him a nervous wreck nor tremble like an autumn leaf, it simply makes him happy to see her so excited about things. It's been so long... She deserves it, she deserves all the happiness this world can offer.

It doesn't even matter if he cannot be with her again, he could be eternally content with just seeing her smile. ]

[She sees him in front of her and her heart skips a slight beat before she knelt down slowly to take his hands into hers.]

... You can say hello, silly. [She does see the smile on his face and returns it with one of her own.] I'm happy to see you too.

[ And just as he remembers, it's like she can read his mind. If he flinches some at the touch, it is only because despite it all, it feels a little surreal, but his little smile grows wider his cheeks will hurt later... and he squeezes her hand in return. ]

Ah... Hello. [ It is obvious he's happy to see her, there is no need to say it, is it? ] Has everything you wished for come true?

[This was her Shadow, the one she remembered being with until the raid on the ARK. Yet he also felt very different, especially because of how happy he was. It wasn't awful, but he was so different from what she was experiencing now. Nevertheless, she smiles and answers him.]

That...depends on what you mean, Shadow. I'm in a world called Nautilus and you're there along with your friends, but... You're so different. You've become a king and you even made a statue in memory of me in the city you rule. And I... [There's that lump in her throat.] Well I'm going through something very difficult right now.

[ If Shadow couldn't stop smiling like a dork, it was because after so many disappointments and weird mishaps during these past months—thank his idiotic human for that—it was pretty much impossible for him not to be happy at the mere sight of the petite blonde.

But it is fleeting, a rare sight that only lasts for so long as Maria keeps taking. He becomes serious as she goes on. He knows her, too well, perhaps even better than he knows himself, and he knows something is wrong. Of course, she tries to keep her usual optimism afloat, but Shadow knows better.

He squeezes her hand again, as support, maybe. And while he's keeping all his attention on Maria, he can't help but fantasy a little about himself as a king—hah, take that Sonic!—and of course, he keeps mental note of building a statue on her memory in a future, because it sounds kind if badass. Why not? ]

Do you... Want to talk about it?

[ He asks, softly. She didn't have to if she didn't want to, he'd be there for her either way. It is all he could do for her after all, being unable to follow her to this Nautilus place. ]

[She wasn't sure how to say it. It was so awkward as it was with the Shadow where she is, but perhaps her Shadow would be willing to accept it. Maybe if she could tell him right here and now, it would help her feel better about it. Even as she felt him squeezing her hand, her heart felt itself tightening.]

Mmm. I do. Though Shadow, if I told you something I was holding in my heart... Something I realized after... what happened to me. Would you still care about me? Would you still be willing to be close to me?

[chaoscontroller]

[ Small ears flick and perk with interest. It seemed somewhat serious; rarely, if ever, Maria would fret over anything, let alone something that would make her doubt of Shadow's feelings towards her.

He gives her a small nod... ]

Always.

[She looked at him with sad eyes before feeling that awful lump in her throat again. The one that always made her throat close up when she tried to tell him her feelings.]

I... [Why does this keep happening. She said it once already to someone else, but to him, it was as if her very core kept telling her not to do it. Not to tell him what she felt deep inside. She even let out a sigh of frustration before taking in a deep breath as if she was going to let it out because he assured her everything would be okay.] ...I love you more than just as my best friend, Shadow. The you in Nautilus helped me realize that and I'm sorry I never could tell you.

[ Oh...

That's... nothing Shadow could even begin to imagine she would say... And then, the so called Ultimate Life Form struggles to understand the meaning of her words. Or maybe, maybe he just wants to make sure he is understanding what she means. He's always had a bit of a hard time comprehending whatever came from the heart, only because for so long, he's chosen not to delve into it. ]
