Not particularly. Just, one of the downsides of being a doctor is working all day with lots of other doctors. Every story you've heard about hard-headedness and over flourishing egos is completely accurate.

Nadass. Vihalen. [ She copies his way of introducing herself either because she finds it cute funny or because, as a trained cultural ambassador, it's how she blends in. ]

And I don't really think of it as being kidnapped. If she didn't want me, I wouldn't exist at all. And besides, I get to meet all sorts of interesting people this way.

So how interesting are we talking here. Aliens? Zombies? Vampires? Alien zombie vampires?

Aliens, humans. "Superheroes"...? I think that's what they're called. Oh, no, there was one vampire now that I think about it. And yeah, actually, a couple of different doctors.

Sorry about that. We're a little like cockroaches that way. Very hard to kill off and we get into all sorts of places.

Oh. Nice place? Never been personally. I don't think we have anyone from your system on our station here, either.

I like it, but I might be a little biased. And you wouldn't. We're relatively new to interstellar travel. In fact, I'm the very first Ningan to travel to another system.

Congratulations! Not everyone gets to say they've been ambassador to a whole planet.

How are you finding the cosmos? I know they can be a little over-whelming but there are some real nice parts here and there.

To be honest, I can't speak for the cosmos as a whole, be...cause I was in cryosleep for most of the journey. Either that or studying. But I like what I've seen so far.

Are you staying on Earth?

For now. My mission is for a decade-long stay, unless anything changes on Earth or back home.

Well, best of luck with it. I grew up on Earth, you know. Rather fond of it myself.

Ever been to Paris?

Yes! Or, eh... oui? French wasn't one of the human languages I learned, but I picked up a little. Paris is amazing! So beautiful, so full of art and history. And the food!

Yeah, it's pretty great. I grew up there as a kid. probably what I miss most about back home.

Thaaaaaat and actually swimming in real water. The pool in the station's great and all but after a while the smell of chlorine really gets to you.

Ohh, I know what you mean. We don't chlorinate our pools on Ninga, so here it's so... ugh. It smells weird and you can't open your eyes underwater.

Do you like to swim?

Just a bit, yeah. Try to get to it every day when I can. How about you?

I love it, but I haven't had a chance to swim in a while. Being an ambassador takes up a lot of time, after all.

How'd exactly did you get that gig, anyway? Are you a politician on your home planet?

[ She smiles. ] No, no. Politicians are too self-involved. They wouldn't be suited to it. I'm a cultural historian, an... anthropologist, I believe is the word. It was my job to study all the different Ningan cultures and, well, now it's my job to bring all that knowledge to Earth, and convey Earth's cultures back home to Ninga.
