I was just a kid then so it wasn't me. But I guess this douchebag sorcerer did a spell it made dead scorpion's come to life and start growing, and they attacked whoever was nearby. Seems kind of stupid to me, I mean what if YOU were nearby right? Anyway, that whole kill it with fire thing is something the boss takes literally in some cases. Sweep it off and set it on fire.
