Since I've been "woken up"...
You're not planning on having me in that other world we know about, are you?
[Mun's hesitant response has Noah curious. Hmn, this is unlike her... Maybe he'll have something new to read up on.]
You usually have something in mind. [He smiles a bit, as he pours tea into a mug.] Still. This little break is something I appreciate.
It's been a while since the last time we've had a chat. Hope all is well on your end. [They both know it's not going so good with him.]

She also knows not much gets past me. [After all, he's usually a man with a plan of his own.]
[He smiles as he speaks like a gentleman.] I can't say I've ever seen you before, Miss...?
no subject
(And this is the part where Marie begins to suspect he was some sort of agent or some kind and she raises an eyebrow. Despite knowing that nothing could really happen here - she still is a bit wary sometimes.)
We probably haven't met. I will admit I don't get to see the light of day every often these days.
(But mind you, she still hasn't given her name.)
no subject
[Indeed. Was. He's not a Company man anymore, since the organization hidden within a paper factory has been in shambles now. He left not long before that happened.
Not so keen on introducing herself, huh? Well, that's all right with him. Noah won't pry. He wouldn't intend to press this woman on any information as he remains sincere.] That's too bad. You should encourage your mun to change that.
no subject
[Oh. Wait. Resistance slang might confuse others.]
-They know what they're doing. Mostly. Don't wanna share it with us. [Sara shrugs a shoulder, grinning wolfishly.]
no subject
Mine is like that with most of the crowd. I've known that before our first meeting. [Although, he doesn't have the big fat stack of files rubber-banded in a manila folder nearby. And he's already figured they might need to be updated... The old habits of working at Primatech are never really forgotten.]
She was thinking about my daughter, at first. [He grins a little.] Of course, I didn't allow it--because of the dangerous criminals and crazy types.
no subject
Yeah, well, 's what papas do for their kidlets. Try 'n keep them safe, I mean. [The smile shrinks by a few teeth.] Gotta let the baby bird use its wings eventually, though. Creeps and weirdos ain't the be-all and end-all of humanity.
[Bluntly:] And if they give you grief, that's when you clock their lights out.
no subject
True. Can't protect them from every bad thing out there. It's impossible to be at more than one place at once.
[It's definitely that way for him, since he's not nearly as special as Claire or anyone else they know.
However, he won't say much more about his girl. Nothing really specific. Something terrible has already happened to her, and he'll go through hell and back to find out where she is.]
[Noah's smile is a grim one.] But if I find them, I'd make sure they'd never be able to go after her again. Knocking them out doesn't always do the trick.
no subject
Not unless you got super-speed in your back pocket. [Sara laughs, a harsh bark of amusement.] Too hard on the legs.
[The look on Noah's face drains the half-smile right off of her face. Oh. She knows that look.] ...Sometimes, you gotta put 'em down. Slam the slammers. They try to get up, you make sure they never do. That, I get.
no subject
And deep down, he is glad to know she understands his general concerns.]
Super-seed? [The grim smile shifts to a polite one.] Is that a sort of drug, where you come from?
...Oops. Typo! Super-speed. *facepalm* I need more coffee.
[Spend long enough clawing for existence, you learn exactly what you're capable of. Sara shrugs one shoulder.]
..."Transfer of kinetic energy" 's what it says on my paperwork. Ain't exactly hard to punch hard with that.
Haha, no worries. :) I think I did the typo, actually.
[It would be all the more worrisome for myself to get strapped down and sedated if I could move faster. He smiles, and goes to pick up his tea. Ah, good, the mug is still warm.
He offers his free hand in introduction.] Noah Bennet.
no subject
Eh. 'S not safe, anyway. [The mug of tea gets an almost wistful glance, but she doesn't say anything about it.] Fill out paperwork, wait around and bam. Suddenly it's "oh, you're a badger now, here's your star, go bust heads". ...Easier when you don't answer to somebody's orders.
no subject
[Oh, he noticed her eying his tea.] There's more in the kettle, in the room behind us. [There's an extra mug on the table, too.] You're welcome to have some.
no subject
[You've said the magic words, HRG. Sara visibly brightens. She snags the mug and scampers off at a pace just a touch too fast for a normal person. When she returns, it's with tea of her own.]
Thanks. Haven't had a mug in a dog's age. [Sluuuurp.] Eugh. Little strong.
no subject
[He doesn't mind sharing! In fact, he's quite hospitable and kind when he wants to be--like right now. "Taking advantage" of his Mun when she has nothing planned for him.
Whoa, that was fast. It's been a long time since he last saw anyone able to run like Sara can.]
[Noah smiles.] Some teas are like that.
no subject
[She wrinkles her nose at the mug, but doesn't hesitate to take another noisy slurp of tea. Table manners? What're those?]
Only ever had the cheap instant stuff. Tastes terrible, but it's tea. This stuff's not bad, though. What is it?
no subject
Chamomile. It's the go-to when it comes to calming down. [His smile shrinks a bit.] I've been under a lot of stress lately.

[Old memories Noah was sure he had buried have now surfaced. It seems like he has a bad taste in his mouth in seeing the man that had terrorized him and his family.
Peter should have let the bastard stay trapped inside his own mind. It's what he truly deserves.
Of course, the disgust is something he won't show, as he somehow manages to grin at him.]
Hello, Sylar.
no subject
So I know what you're probably going to say, but- is there anything I can do to help? You know, when you get back from your break.
no subject
He would only get Quentin and himself in trouble. In knowing what he knows, his words carry confidence.]
Hmn, de`ja vu... I remember the last time we worked together. It all went south rather quickly.
I doubt you'd even want to go near Renautas. The things they do to people with abilities... It's worse than Building 26.
[Noah, looking him in the eyes, doubts that this much information would get Sylar to back off. But he's not worried. He knows how to explain the truth further.]
no subject
[ Slight sigh. Ah, memories. He does look somewhat more serious as he turns to thoughts of the future. ]
I assume Renautas is a little more competent- unless they're employing Danko for some reason. If it's worse, then they have to be using those abilities somehow, either through forced slavery or some sort of workaround...
[ ...well. Crud. ] They're stealing powers, aren't they?
no subject
They've innocent people up to a machine, using them to find more with abilities. [Again, there's that bad taste in his mouth.] They've even hooked up one of their own to it. Strapped down in beds with wires coming out of their necks.
I doubt that's not something you'd ever want a part in. And, as for Danko... I haven't heard anything about him.
[The only thing he can't bring himself mention, not without feeling remorse, is Molly Walker's death.]
no subject
So they have Micah, then. Or another technopath. And Molly. This is a lot darker than I hoped.
[ A moment of thought, of how he would infiltrate them, and he realizes that he can't. If they hijacked his brain, it could spread his ability to whatever they were using it for- and the madness that came with it. Unleashed, that Hunger could easily consume the world. He wonders briefly if that was exactly what was happening. And there was another power that would be disastrous for them to get as well... ]
What about Claire? Is that why you're on the case? They have her?
no subject
He wouldn't put it past Renautas for having Micah. It's been too long since he's heard anything about that boy, or whoever's been looking after him.
When Sylar says his daughter's name, his words have a cold edge to them.]
I don't know. I don't know what happened to her, but that's none of your damn business.
no subject
Well, if this place- Renautas, you said?- if they have her, then I think it's everyone's business. But sure.
So what's their agenda? World-altering? Are they trying to 'even things out' for the human race or something?
no subject
Still seeking to redeem yourself I see. Tell me, what would you do if you had no choice but to confront those people?
[Noah’s not willing to share anymore information regarding to Renautas.]
no subject
[ He actually looks thoughtful about this hypothetical situation. ]
I'd need to know if it was worth the risk of them getting at me.
no subject
[Surely, Sylar wouldn't miss the obvious reasons as to why Noah won't see him as trustworthy.]
no subject
Parkman didn't mean to, but he cured me by trapping me in my own head for awhile. It wasn't great in there.
no subject
But can a tiger really change his stripes?
[I will not be played for a fool. Too much is at stake.]
no subject
no subject
[And now Noah is feeling frustrated. Part of him wants to make a grab for his gun, but he already knows that won't work out well.]
no subject
no subject
I take a look at you, and I still remember the pain and harm you've caused towards my family, and myself.
And I've already learned the hard way that forgetting isn't the way.
no subject
I've learned that lesson, too.
All right. If you think I'm a danger there, I'll back off.
[ Wow, that was tough to say. ]
no subject
I’m very tied up in my search for answers. The person traveling with me has a family member of his own to look for.
You probably have changed, at least in the slightest way--but cooperating to take Renautas down isn’t going to happen. [That little smile of his is plastic, as he doesn’t sound quite as venomous.]
no subject
no subject
Indeed they are, knowing how people are these days. [He comes over and wraps both arms around his daughter in a relieved embrace.] I'm glad you're all right, Claire.
no subject
[She was aiming for light but it falls a little short; she's too unsettled and pulls back, brow knit together tightly as she meets his gaze. Then she sighs and shakes her head slightly. Her mouth curves upward at the corners in a sad, ghost of a smile.]
I want to ask. I won't, but I want to.
no subject
Noah knows Claire's brave and headstrong enough to stay out of danger, but he won't intend to let her out of his sight any time soon. Not after the recent and unmistakably terrible things he's seen.]
We'll get to that. All in good time, sweetheart, but first I want ask you something.
no subject
To her credit, she keeps her voice calm and her tone at least passingly close to light.]
Ask away.
no subject
[Yes it's two questions, but he has the right to know what happened. He actually needs to know in order to set things right.]
I'm having a little trouble in remembering. [A little trouble would be an understatement. At least Rene hadn't wiped out the memories connected to not seeing or contacting her in years.]
no subject
She knows he won't, though. She also knows what she has to do. Even if he's aware of what she's doing, even if it leads to another fight and years of radio silence, she knows she has no choice. There's too much at stake. So meeting her dad's gaze, she does the only thing she can do given the circumstances.
She lies.]
I don't have a clue what you're talking about.
omg, the latest episode...
Please don't lie to me, Claire.
There was a peace movement in Odessa. I know we were supposed to meet up. [He doesn't want to argue. There's no time, so he will try the loving, concerned father approach.] You know you can tell me anything.
I KNOW RIGHT!
She takes a step back to put a little distance between them. It isn't much space but it's enough to help her refocus on the bigger picture.]
I love you, dad, and I want to tell you. I do. But I can't risk it. I'm sorry but- [She sighs and gives a shake of her head.] There's just too much at stake.
Oh, Phoebe. D: Maybe Quentin won't die in an AU plot. And maybe Miko might return, somehow?
[He prevents himself from saying, Not you, too, as he sees her step back. Noah’s hands already return to his sides. First Rene, who tried to kill him, under his orders when he could still remember. Then Molly, who shot herself in the head with his own weapon when he had tried to help her...
In hearing what she says, Noah begins to worry. You’re breaking my heart, Claire-Bear. Even when she does, he continues to prod, not press. This isn’t an interrogation at all.]
Are you in trouble? Are you being pursued by anyone? [The thought of that troubles and scares him, deep down.] There must be something you can tell me.
