[...i'll live, sans, promise.]

[sans can we n - ]

* and here i was thinkin that joke was a total snailure.
no subject
no subject
* eh, you're right.
[the twinkle in his eyesocket says otherwise.]
* that joke was a total snailure anyways.
no subject
I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU DID IT ANYWAY!
I CAN'T BELIEVE I DIDN'T SEE IT COMING!
WHY. DIDN'T. I. SEE. IT. COMING?!
no subject
* tibia honest, i'm surprised you didn't see it coming either. did you forget how humerus i am?
[one day, papyrus will realize that sans does this because his brother's reactions are so funny.]

[sans ruffles frisk's hair, eyesockets crinkling a little in fondness.
hey there, little buddy.]
no subject
...your jokes are really nice.
no subject
* don't let papyrus overhear you sayin that.
* he gets kinda skullky when people say i'm funnier than he is.
no subject
Papyrus is a different kind of funny.
[Frisk struggles with their words a bit, hands moving in aborted motions, but they just beam up at Sans with a gentle smile. At 'skullky', they start giggling again, eyes squeezed shut in laughter.]
no subject
* tibia frank, i do have a bone t'pick with you.
[sans eyes frisk a little closer, though not unkindly.]
* which frisk are ya, kiddo?
no subject
[Their hands are balled into tiny, tiny fists.]
no subject
(or maybe he has. specifics are always harder to pinpoint.)
after a moment, sans reaches out, places a hand on frisk's shoulder.]
* you wanna talk about it, kiddo? chara, i mean.
no subject
They were my -- they were...Asriel's friend. They guided me through the underground...a-and. I never knew why. But...they died, a long time ago, a-and I had to help them and Asriel move on.
They were just scared.
no subject
hadn't there been mention of something else? sans tries to remember, but it's like grabbing at smoke. too many timelines, not enough information passed between them. he'd been too focused on the flower whispering things to papyrus.
he doesn't remember that final fight. there was that flower, and then light...and when they'd all come back to, the barrier was broken.
pieces are starting to fall into place, but sans isn't sure if he likes the picture they're painting.]
* sounds like it was more than just fear, kiddo.
[vaguely, he recalls memories of fighting frisk in that hallway. "chara"...
maybe that's why frisk seemed so different.]
* they left you alone then?
no subject
So was Asriel. He just wanted his friend back.
[Frisk nods, small, at Sans' question.]
...they're both gone. My mun says...there's a world where they're both okay, after that. Where we can all be happy, but...
no subject
[hm. he doesn't know how to feel about that. frisk is a good kid, he'd be willing to help, but...]
no subject
Asriel wanted to help people. It wasn't his fault. It wasn't Chara's fault, either.
[Tiny, tiny fists, balled up in Sans' jacket.]
no subject
* i'm sorry, kid.
[he pauses.]
* listen.
* i dont know how much help i'll be.
* or if it'll change anything, but.
* if you ever do want to go back, i'll help.
* however i can, anyways.
[there are a million reasons why he shouldn't suggest this. part of him is even hoping frisk doesn't take him up on it.
but at the end of the day, he's got something special. and he's got to use it responsibly, right?]
no subject
I just want them to be at peace.
I know what it's like to be scared, too.
no subject
* but the offer's still out there.
* just in case y'ever change your mind.
no subject
[The way the word rings in the air, heavy and vibrating, feels too powerful to have come out of Frisk. And the look they have, for just a split second -- it knows. It bleeds. It feels far too much for one tiny, fragile little kid to understand.]
If I go back...nothing I did here matters.
no subject
sans just ruffles frisk's head again.]
* you gotta lighten up a lil, kiddo.
* else you'll end up just like me.
no subject
And you're my friend. That makes you a good person.
no subject
* i aint a sansation or anything
[he seems pleased by the remark though.]
* you seen anyone else around, kiddo?
no subject
[Frisk's inscrutable face drops a little, perhaps in sadness, with 'only one'. It's not like Sans is inadequate, it's just -- they're...used to having lots of friends around. It was nice.]
no subject
* hey, don't worry about it
* you got lots of people that love ya, right?
* i'm sure you'll see all your friends again soon
* til then i'll have to tide you over with all my punderful jokes
no subject
no subject
* tibia honest, i think they like the challenge of it all.
no subject
Well muns do get excited over puns I've noticed, find 'em pretty humerus.
no subject
* for now shes pretty boned though.
no subject
A little practice and she'll have a backlog of good ones in no time.
Whoops don't mind me hopping in here
I thought y-y-y-y-you were better'n that, Spine.
no subject
* its pretty punderful, aint it?
no subject
Cause I knew you'd invite yourself along Rabbit. Hop on in without any prompting at all.
no subject
But ya d-d-didn't even tell me you two were punnin' up a storm! Besides, everyone knows I'm the punnin' master. Jeez, d-d-don't ma-make a girl hafta pick a bone with you two!
[If there's one thing she prides herself on, it's shitty jokes.]
no subject
* only if you tickle my ribs first.
* otherwise i'll just keep skullking around.
no subject
no subject
[She's not really mad she just wants in on the fun.]
no subject
* next time i'm bein humerus, i'll give ya a ring though.
no subject
[sans is clearly enjoying himself too. puns make the world go round, yanno?]
