So I want to say something. I know you think I overwork myself in order to ‘make up’ for my mistakes, and it’s not like that. I mean, not really.

It’s the right thing to do, isn’t it? And I like helping people. Why are you bothering me so much about this?

[ That response catches him off-guard. ] Why I believe in it?

I mean, I'm not trying to save the world or anything. [ Not anymore. ] I work as a paramedic. I save what lives I can. Maybe if I was a hitman or something, I'd expect to be questioned on my career, but not for this.

[ He's surprised by the answer. He thought surely this was a question of self sacrifice for the great good of a nation, or perhaps the great good of the world. ]

To be clear: she doesn't want you to be a paramedic?

No- [ He sighs. ] I- I don't know. I mean, she's played mostly psychos, so I guess that's possible. But it's more like she thinks I'm wearing myself down too much. And I don't get that.

It might not matter soon, anyway. I don't know how long I'm going to be able to keep this job, considering all the changes That're happening back home.

And yeah, think you might be right about that. She doesn't need to worry, though. I do just fine.

[There is warmth to her words as she smiles a bit.]

[ He shakes his head and chuckles, smiling back at her. He appreciates her asking. ]

Yeah, there's a guy who keeps an eye out. Even though he's just as bad about that sort of thing.

[It's been too long. To Noah, four years feels longer than it really should be.]

Yeah, I guess so. Sometimes I wonder if we should really be 'handling it', though. At least with my work, it's hard to wreck things by overdoing it.

[ But he does give the man half a smile. ] Hey, Noah.

True. [It almost pains him to smile. He hasn't been around, since Claire... Well. He's still out there, searching for her.] How've you been, Peter?

[ That pained smile looks about right for what Peter knows of Noah right now, so he avoids asking about it. ]

Busy. Trying to figure out how long I've got before I have to leave my job.

[ He rubs the back of his neck, looking a little embarrassed. ]

I'm not the best at hiding the fact I've got powers.

Nathan...? [ Okay, he knew this was possible. But his expression breaks apart a little when he sees his brother. He immediately walks up and pulls him into a hug. It feels like its been forever. ]

Yeah, well. I'm not the only one in the family with that tendency.

[ He pulls away and smiles. Who knows when his brother is from, but- ] I am really, really happy to see you, Nathan.

[Ah. That tells him something-- that maybe this Peter is from later on. Nathan's a ways off from what happens to him, but Claire had told him some of it and so Nathan is... dealing in his own way.

But without a doubt there's one thing he can do right then: hug his brother.]

I'm sure I don't now what you're talking about.

[But that's not what's important right now.] It's good to see you, too.

[ Peter hugs him tightly and laughs happily before finally letting go. ]

So what's been going on with you?

[ That's a better thing to ask than 'when are you from?' at least. ]

It is the right thing to do, you're right...yeah, you're actually right about that. If you made a mistake you are supposed to try to fix it. I mean, I'm not actually the right person to be talking about this, but yeah...(Color her shocked.)

...But, I can't speak for the overwork part.

I tried to fix what I could, but we're kinda past all that, now. I mean...some things you can't fix, and you just have to accept it. [ It doesn't mean you have to be happy about it, though, and he sure doesn't. ]

Well, if it means anything, my mun likes to call me an idiot these days. She also likes to say I have a tendency to almost get myself killed, that I'm stubborn, and well a lot of other things...

Though, she will admit the "stubborn" part makes me more likable so "don't lose that, ok" ...which is kind of weird of her, but alright. She's weird, I like that.

I think there's harm in whatever anyone does, but...well, our mun can just deal with it. She might like some part of it and if you lost it, well, that might be disappointing.
