To borrow a phrase from your people: "You're about to open Pandora's Box". You know that I'm a bit unbalanced, powerwize, but you still went along with this? Well let's hope everything thing works out then? I've always enjoyed a bit of adventure. At least you went with me and didn't bring Matello out again. Getting revived all the time surly must take its toll.

Also... icons? Where's the rest?

Oh another thing! Don't stress the history part. Take your time to come up with the best and most complex adventure you can think of. It looks good so far, short and to the point. But it needs more.

Yep, you got the better deal than me. [She smiles wryly.] But it's not too bad, given the assortment of friends I have.

The past eleven years have been the hardest journey for me to live through, but I've stopped grudging and resenting months ago. [But her deepest losses are still something she prefers not to discuss, not openly anyway.]

Might be so, but it's hardly ideal. Having your god chattering in your head is distracting. He's surprisingly talkative.

I'm pretty new at this position. As I said my writer does need to flesh things out more.

Nexus doesn't say a whole lot for a sentient world, but when there's something bothering her she can get persistent about it. [She sighs.] Like a worried mother, which is accurate enough.

I'm fairly new at mine. It's been a little over a few months so far.

He's surprisingly fascinated by human euginity and ocasionally comments on it. At the same time he's admandat that everything has a purpose and everything is decided already. That said he doesn't wish to interfere too much. Free will and all that.

The Creator acts more like a loving father.

You have been doing it longer than me. I guess I was brought here as my first objective.

Ahh, the bubbly kind. [Now she can sort of imagine His interested commentary about her.] Better than the grumpy kind, right? [She grins a bit.] Would be even less ideal for you if your Creator spoke like a grumpy old guy, no offense intended!

[This is somehow therapeutic for her, talking to someone else that has a connection to a higher being. All that stress she's felt lately is just simmering down...] Well, everyone's got to start somewhere... I'm still trying to figure out my limits and getting used to my job as being the voice, guardian, and protector of my world.

The fact that a crazy monster deity wants to control or destroy me adds onto the pressure. But, many of my friends are doing all they can to hold her back, I know it. Until my small group and I figure out a way to defeat or banish her for good, they're going to keep her busy.

Pretty sure deties are beyond such things at taking offense. [He has clearly not met a Greek god.]

I'm aware of my limits but I can see someone like you struggling, not really knowing much about it.

I'm the Protector, my fellow brothers and sisters in arms are the Templars. I'm Jeremy Talos; Protector of the Shrine, Guardian of the Light and Champion of the Creator. Just Jeremy works fine tho.

Most of them aren't easy to offend... Vertigo's a monster in every sense of the word. The kinds of power she has already is scary. Her most powerful of dark magic is not easy for my wind mage friend to reverse.

She has taken over a lot of worlds, but worlds like Nexus are rare. Her power is limitless, and just about anything can happen. Anything. [When he speaks of human foolishness, she shows a knowing glance.] And yeah, I've seen the end result of human experimentation gone horribly wrong. It had deeply affected me. [She paused, and stopped herself before she'd start to sound upset.]

Jeremy alone would be easiest to remember.

Vertigo does sound like something worth stopping. I'd hope she doesn't find her way to my world. There's a fine balance which keeps the world from degenerating.

Yes. Through the years there has been many men who has tried to ascend to godhood here. It always ends badly.

I reckon it is easier. [Smiles.]

[She stiffens at the thought of her going to Jeremy's world--especially because of Mari herself.] I won't let that happen.

That never sits well with other people. [Don't get her started about Light Yagami, and that notebook of death a sadistic rogue of a deity who dropped it. She loathes them both.]

I don't understand why there is even a way of doing such, ascend like that. It's not easy thankfully but the risk of failure is great. Matello went through a battle in which greed spawned a twisted god. The consequences were not pleasant.

Her current grand conquest is for Nexus anyway. She won't give up until she catches up to me--but it won't be easy for her to find me.

Maybe because trying to ascend involves too much power for any person to stay stable, or something. That's my best guess. [She shrugs.] Matello, is he a good friend of yours?

Matello was one of previous Protectors. I've learned a lot about him from studies. He's one of few which repeatedly got revived and throw into several crisises. The Creator speaks fondly about him. I haven't met him personally though. You see Protectors serves for life. Or until there's a suitable replacement.

And not for all time? [This was surprising to hear.] Well, it's a relief you won't have to deal with immortality...

How does one get chosen to be a Protector? I'm only curious.

[Nexus senses her inner sadness about herself, that bit about never wanting to be immortal and outliving most of her friends. Mari feels a heavier weight in her chest from this. Please don't beat yourself up on my account, she privately tells her. Just don't.]

No not all for all time. Being immortal doesn't seem that nice anyway. But maybe fear of your own mortality is what drives people to such lenghts. It's a thought.

Usually the current Protector chose a couple of gifted individuals and the strongest of them gets the title and power. The rest becomes Templars. Other times the Creator simply chooses who it should be. It has happened several times through the ages.

I can understand that. And, well, I don't believe it would be nice at all to live forever. [She doesn't let herself to feel sad this time.] It's not something I'd want to think or talk about.

That's interesting... What was the training like? What skills or traits do you have besides strength?

It was long and tendious. We mixed battle technique with studies of ancient texts. I've be taught tactical thinking, survival skills, some diplomacy and meditation techniques.

The only training I got, from a friend before Nexus chose me to protect her Core, was in combat. I choose violence as a last resort, and that's one of the reasons why I was the most qualify candidate to be the vessel.

She first explained to me that I have a strong will and love for others I've cared about for so long. She also couldn't protect her Core by herself anymore, because of the man who had tried so hard to destroy everything. [Her expression turned serious.]

Sounds serious. Glad she found you. Still it must be a big responsibility.

A huge responsibility. The two of us are a team though, and if I get all this power to help protect my boyfriend and everyone else I love--then it's worth being the chosen one.

It's worth it. Some people needs to be strong for others.

[She nods, knowing and agreeing with that.] They're my family, Jeremy. Without them, I would lose it.

Nexus knows this too, of course.
