[Ed is so unsure. This...can't be her, right? Oh, but then Hughes was around and he was dead back home to, so sure life. Why not mess with him even more by having her of all people show up. After everything he and Al had been through, after what they had attempted and sacrificed to see her again all those years ago. And after Hohenheim had shown up in Anatole too.]

[He's waiting for it to turn out to be a dream. But she isn't disappearing or morphing into that thing they made, or scolding him for not saving her, for not bringing her back.]

Y-yeah....Mom...[He stands there, but only for a moment before instinct takes over and he moves in for a hug. It's been so long.]

Ah, yeah. I mean, I have a job and we get by with that. Travel a lot....

[Which is true. Not as much the travel in his game, but back home. And he does have jobs, his State Alchemist one back home and in Anatole helping at the clinic and the search and rescue teams. But he is okay. Fine. He will just. Try to avoid her noticing the auto-mail. Yup.]

We manage. We've had a lot of help, from Granny and Winry especially. [Mentioning the military might worry her, so he is avoiding mention of that just yet. But he's just relieved to see her again, still half wondering if this is a dream. Al should be here. He'd given up even more for the chance to see her again, he wonders where his brother is that he is not here.]

Yeah. They helped us out a lot, until I found a job and we manage by ourselves more or less now. [With the exception of his auto-mail and near constant fighting, anyway, yup.] We....we missed you.

[Because this is much more hilarious without a warning? But really, Ed just didn't think of the possibility of him meeting Trisha unless he went back home and lived out the time prior to meeting her back home.
