Getting a shot wasn't nearly as dreadful as I thought it would be. I barely felt a thing.

Old Gaffer always had his own way of thinking, and Dad said he would always say these things out of anger and worry that didn't make a lick of sense.

Dad made it out fine though. He helped me shoot down my own boar when I was younger, and he still gets my mam some of the finest conies even at his ripe old age.
