Players tend ta get a bit antsy when they wanna do shit, especially when its not a good idea ta. "Oh YEAAAAAAAH goin' ta fricken MECHANICUS to get some SUPER SOUL-ROTTIN TOXIC SHIT sounds like a GREAAAAAAAAAT idea!"

...had three near TPKs and almost lost the boat back home. I only got out as well as I did on account ta being more armored than a damn tank and even then I was in traction for months. They had ta play a whole new party, my player included, until I was healed enough ta fight again.

I've had a few missions like that. [Snake absentmindedly runs a finger over the "horn" of shrapnel sticking out above his left eye.] Lost nine years the last time a mission went sideways on me.

That's an awfully bleak way to look at it. Soldiers like us are the reason civilians get to live life without knowing what it's like to live without a knife to your throat. It's not much, but being at the bottom's not so bad.

I don't think that'll be a problem, Kaz. This one seems to know what he's doing, aside of the whole "getting ahead of himself" issue. It's easy to fix, at least.

Main problem right now's that there aren't many places he wants to send me where my skills will see real, practical use. There might be one, but there's not much interest there yet, and he doesn't want me going where there's no action.

That's a problem. This place doesn't seem to offer any real challenge to anyone and that's not good. We need challenge, people like you and me. [Always wanted to do something, aren't you, Kaz?]

How's the re-building of Mother Base coming along? Or, has your mundane postponed that since you're unable to go out on missions to gather resources and men?

That's too bad. I'm not getting rusty by any stretch, but the last thing I want is an excuse to get lazy. [Like with the MSF. Too much time spent goofing off capturing equipment and chasing butterflies.]

It's on hold for now. This...game...he's been thinking of sending me to is one he helped create, but since it's new there's no one there yet, and he's got no idea what he's doing as far as managing something like that. Sorta like when you and I first started working on Mother Base.

[Snake remembers those days, Fultoning whoever he could, regardless of skill level or usefulness, just to get some warm bodies Kaz could put to work.]

I wish I could do more to help. Feelings useless without both my legs working properly does have it set backs, yet I'm always going to help you, Boss. No matter what. Heh. I remember those days. The good days. Do you remember the time we spent at the beach goofing around?
