[She doesn't want to address that. She just wants him to stop hurting, even for just a moment. So she kneels down next to him and just like back then, in the forest, she pulls him into her embrace. She doesn't care if he's going to protest or to struggle, she's not about to let go.

It's not like you can die twice anyway.]

{ He doesn't resist. He can't, and they both know it. It was so unfair. For a brief, shining moment, he had hope. Maybe even a reason to want to keep living instead of just counting the days until he could try to have E.N.D. kill him. That he'd finally found something in the world that could give him a chance at happiness. And he had been sure that if anybody could have helped him break this awful curse, it was her. If the One Magic existed, he knew they could have found it together.

And then that glimmer of hope was snatched away from him as quickly as it had arrived. And worse still, it had to have happened to the only person he'd ever allowed himself to love. And he wouldn't even wish this on his worst enemy, let alone the kindest person he'd ever met and could ever meet.

He doesn't even try to stop the tears. He knows he can't. }

[That might fall under "nobody deserves this", but both he and Mavis were worse off than anyone else (as far as she knew).]

I... I hope you're both given a happy ending... You deserve it. [Of course, how such an ending could be achieved was a different story...]

That was the worst contradiction of all. Love bringing despair. Hope bringing hopelessness. If you're truly from her heart, then you will remember what she promised me... and why it matters.

I made a promise, too! It doesn't matter if she can't see or hear me anymore. I don't care about things like that.

As long as she cares about me, it has to be enough.

My mundane had a similar sentiment. I wanted to die. She wanted to die. But then... then she wanted to live. To break the curse, together.

{ But that would require him to live, too, right? Living to break the curse. Even if they couldn't die, they'd still have each other, but they'd still want to die. Wanting to live in order to die? Granting her wish of death, but then wanting her to live, but wanting to be free of their suffering meant dying, nothing made sense anymore. }

I still intend to revive E.N.D. eventually. All I know is... I want to see Mavis one last time before I die. What I ultimately decide could hinge on that.

Mavis-san will be telling us about Fairy Heart next, and if our Muns are right about why you want to obtain it—to obtain Mavis-san... [She pauses.] I wonder if Master and everyone else would allow you that chance.
