I suppose I should be thanking you for not going through with it at this time. As much as my heart goes out to those who are trapped in such a terrible place, I fear what may have happened if we'd chosen to get involved... In fact, we may have simply put them in even graver danger.
[He lets out a sigh. Not relief, but...well, he isn't quite sure.]
Still, try and cheer up. I'm certain a new opportunity will present itself when we very least expect it. There isn't any need to rush things now is there? You and I have gotten along well enough in the past; I'm quite sure we'll be able to reach an agreement that satisfies us both.
