Oh, I am. I think it would be very impolite to leave one trapped in something like Fairy Heart. Don't you agree?
{ A beat. }
I don't remember that, but I guess I shouldn't be too surprised. People I've never even met are inspired to learn from me, whether I want them to or not.
While its summoner was weakened, or so I've heard. Thank you for that, by the way. I never did like those cults. I never wanted to be worshipped, least of all by people who invoke my name to justify their own wickedness.
Ugh, more vague crap. You sound like Mira when's she's teasing her siblings. Or Lucy.
Anyways, I'm mentally prepared to take you down a peg. [Like with most enemies, Natsu doesn't actually think about killing them. Beating them senseless, yes, that's fun, killing? Not so much.]
Acnologia's goals are incredibly simplistic, almost disappointingly so. All he desires is a real fight, against someone whom he either doesn't have to hold back against, or last longer than mere seconds. I intend to give him exactly that. With the death of the other dragons, only myself and E.N.D. are all that are left of those who are able and willing to kill that monster once and for all.
{ Zeref sighs. }
Surely by now you understand that he is not like the other Etherious. Actually, he was created from a human. A dead human resurrected as a demon, trading humanity for another chance at life, which was unfairly taken from him shortly after birth.
If he wasn't such an asshole sounds like he and I would get along.
[He grins, and not a pleasant one.] Don't count me out yet. I plan on getting revenge for Igneel.
[Natsu just goes quiet when Zeref talks about E.N.D.'s creation] Life ends, there's nothing fair about it.
[Pauses. All of Zeref's non-demon projects...the R system, Eclipse...] This E.N.D. guy must have meant a lot to you huh? So you brought him back, just so he could kill you? That's selfish.
How do you know that isn't what E.N.D. also wants?
{ Because... He kind of does. Whether Natsu realizes it or not. }
Take Mard Geer, for example. If you go so far as to consider my other demons to be something akin to children of mine, he desired my death, as well. Not out of malice, but simply because he knew it is what I want.
[She still finds it hard to believe Zeref's truly wicked—especially after learning more about him through her interactions with both the Black Wizard himself and Zeira in-game. Of course, she's not happy about the bad things he's done, nearly killing Makarov being the most recent.]
Imagine living a cursed life in which you will always watch those whom you can bring yourself to care about die before you, whether due to age or by your own hands. Outliving almost everyone you will ever know.
Wouldn't you do anything to free yourself from such a fate?
{ He's never had a problem with you, Wendy. You've never been anything but kind to him at Genessia, both times you were there. Even saving his life once. }
[She isn't sure she could imagine it, or whether she'd agree. It's already difficult for her to imagine life without her friends; though she will mature over time, she still doesn't think she could watch the people she loved die over and over again. However, she was also taught to live for her friends—and living in isolation was out of the question for her. Still, she thinks she can understand how he feels.]
There's really no other way...? I'm sure people would understand if you explained your situation. [If only she knew.]
And I am not referring to an arbitrary title granted by the Magic Council.
{ He never thought the Ten Wizard Saints was an accurate way of measuring the power of Ishgar's mages. If it was, he would be at the top, Gildarts would be somewhere in there, and the bottom five at least would all be Fairy Tail. The way those ranks are assigned are obviously politically motivated, but the Four Gods, at least, were mostly accurate.
It's why he accepted God Serena into the Spriggan Twelve. }
[She takes a moment to think. There are the Yakuma War Gods, who could be summoned by powerful wizard. However, they weren't invincible, as proven when Natsu shattered one of them. Still, she could hardly consider that experience informative. And whether there were other kinds of gods, well... That was something she was unsure of.]
[She stops, unsure of how to respond. Who did he try to bring back from the dead? Was it someone close to him? She couldn't imagine he was antagonistic before he was cursed. And besides, in a world full of magic, wouldn't it make sense for people to try and bring back loved ones?]
Cursing a person for wanting to revive someone... T-That's cruel...
Ankhseram believed death should be a one way route. The R-System, Eclipse... My previous attempts to resurrect him earned me that curse. Ironically enough, it wasn't until after I was made immortal through Ankhersam's curse that I had enough time to truly perfect my method of resurrecting the dead. I hated myself for taking advantage of eternal life to spend my time studying, but it worked.
I resurrected my little brother by reconstructing his body as a demon: E.N.D.

Mavis isn't trapped.

{ He spent a lot of time on Tenroujima with her 'spirit'(?) being the only real company he had. }
You don't think she would welcome the chance to be released? Surely even you must acknowledge that Acnologia must die.
no subject
Didn't anyone yeah you not to make selfish decisions with other people's lives? The only one who can decide Mavis's fate is Mavis!
I know her heart better than anyone. Right now, she's putting her trust in the guild... Once, she could have put her trust in you, too, you know.
no subject
{ He closes his eyes at that. }
She did. Or don't you remember?
no subject
You're betraying her trust, now. How can she still put faith in you?

Regardless, I did not mean physically.

Against all odds, he grew fond of him. Perhaps he knew someday that E.N.D. could one day fulfill the purpose for which I intended for him: Killing me.
{ And hopefully Acnologia while he's at it. }
no subject
[he has a nagging feeling Zeref is hinting at more, but he's doing his best to ignore it]
Man if you wanna die so bad it should be pretty easy; just stand still and let me hit you a bunch of times.
no subject
{ Like in a mirror. }
If it were that simple, I'd stand still while Acnologia does it.
no subject
I always thought he wanted you for something else. But If Acnologia can't kill you...
...What kind of monster is E.N.D.

Oh, don't worry. I haven't. { Just not in the way you think, Natsu. }
You care about your family. That much I can see. I did as well. { Zeref pauses, taking a deep breath, and trying to decide how much he should reveal.
He opts for the minimum, as usual. }
E.N.D. was the last family member I had left.

[Takes a breath to try to calm down, but it doesn't really work]
That's just... so selfish. How can you make someone who loved you do that? Put them through that pain?

...Almost nothing.

There is only one way to have the kind of magic that I have. It can't be learned. It must be given. And I did not want it.
{ Let that sink in a moment, Wendy. }
Humans have always sought a way to cheat death. It is not as desirable as it may sound at first.

[Just making sure she understands.]
...May I ask what you did?

I tried to bring somebody back from the dead.
