Voice Test - Ancient Muse awakens

It pleases Erik to know that you have not forgotten the song, or the sound of his voice. We are both different from those early times and yet, little has changed. You still turn the scorpion, so we might as well get to the heart of things. Do not abandon Erik in the catacombs of the mind, and he will gladly serve you as obediently as he can.

And I guess the icons could be worse. They are pleasing to the eye, and there is something to be said about sacrificing a little truth for the sake of art.

Hey mask man, how's it hanging? Mun was too lazy to call one of the ladies from her head case to come and say hi. So she sent me over here instead. Like that's ever a good idea.

Also she says she loves you and wants you to call some angel to sing or whatever. Apparently she's a huge fan.

[Someone engaging in wordplay? With him? Pardon Erik while it takes him a moment before he just mentally shrugs. He does enjoy his puns from time to time.]

A...fan. Such as Erik's mun also calls herself, but there is only one who was a true fan of all his work. Though she informs him you may appreciate some of the contents of his portfolio.

[A sigh.] My Mun would gladly entertain any number of your mun's ladies, regardless of my own protests. The Angel of Music is a strict tutor, if she wishes for such a challenge.

Erik can no more hate a human for being, than the sun for shining. He does not like many things, but true hatred is reserved for severe sins.

Erik is the king of his domain, as it were. Darkness, with an unfortunate population of rats, but all the music a soul could yearn for. Otherwise little else unless he is in the service of royalty.

Erik offers his services as architect, musician, artisan and entertainer to those patrons who seek it out.

Ah, but with such a long list of talents surely you deserve a princely title nonetheless. You say you are a musician sir, may I ask what you play? I am a novice myself, but I am told my skill with the lute is indeed commendable.

[There's the faint tick of a smile on his face, and a light in his eyes.]

I sing, play many instruments and compose. [There are certain exceptions to the way he speaks, and when it is about music, he owns his talents completely with little concern for humility.]

[It's her turn to smile, noticing the difference in the manner in which he speaks.]

Compose, you say? I may compose poetry when the muse strikes me, but music composition eludes me entirely, thus I commend you, your talents. Is there a particular instrument that suits you? If it is not too much of an imposition, I would ask to hear you play.

What the organ lacks in portability, the voice has in spades. It is also a more favorable instrument to accompany the lute.

Ah, it is a rare treat to hear an organ played, at least for me.

Should you find one at your disposal, you have Erik's interest to play for you.

Then let us hope that, at such a time that I find one, that I have my lute handy. I would enjoy such a duet.

Which is indeed a shame - though that is a rarely-found advantage in this place, quite literally anything can happen and become commonplace.

...though now that I think on that, such is not always an advantage...

As with all things, it is always so. Never the dark without the light. The good without evil. Unpredictability and the regularities.

My scribe seems to enjoy setting me into the most uncomfortable of situations, much to my chagrin. Frequently I am forced to play the damsel in distress - what does yours do with you, if I may ask?

That is unfortunate. To appearances you seem quite capable and certain.

Erik's Mun seems to take a perverse enjoyment in toying with whatever remains of his heart or his humanity. The only redeeming quality would be his mun's interests in also exploring his talents, and his darker inclinations as the opportunity presents itself.

Mm. That too is unfortunate, a shame really. To tease a man so is cruel, I am sorry to hear of your circumstance. But yes, I can also sympathize with exploring those talents and darker elements of your persona - my scribe has a habit of that as well, and exploring the lesser-known aspects of myself.

Much as Erik loathes to encourage such behavior, certain company may make it more tolerable. Her ladyship may count herself among those few.
