SO HOW ABOUT THEM SYMBIOTES
[One ex-cop and one alien super being in one convenient package, neither of whom are very happy but for very different reasons.]
Look, I really don't want any part of this-I do! But I hate the username.
That's your big objection here? We're snatched out of our home and life for God knows what purpose and you don't like the username!?
Sure! I always thought we ought to get out more and where's more out than this? But you know I don't like being called a monster, Pat. Make them change it!
Ut-uh! I'm not interested in any of it, but that name suits us.
...You're not even a cop anymore, Pat.
...Shut up, Toxin.

sorry not sorry but i'm going to stalk you from now on
What's wrong with being a monster?
Just according to keikaku
No one likes monsters! It's mean to call me one, I only hurt bad guys and not even that badly! Uh. Hate to say it, but Toxin is half way right with that.
[The pair are currently chalking up her not freaking out at the two voices and occasional tendril under his shirt peeking out to the whole meta thing.]
translator's note: keikaku means plan
[ Is that deadpan snark or a legitimate response? Nobody knows. Regardless, Andi glances down at the tendrils and scoffs lightly. He must be new to the alien host thing. ] That a monster under your clothes or are you just happy to see me?
no subject
I am not a monster! Hey, calm down, she's just a kid!
Look, my... Partner here is a bit sensitive sometimes. He's just a kid too.
no subject
I'm not a kid! I'm seventeen!
no subject
[Warring on two fronts here-]
But it is a kid. You'd be tried as a minor, at least.
no subject
I'm not old either!
[ She scowls and reaches down to smack one of Toxin's tendrils. It might not be smart, but the little jerk has it coming. ]
And who measures age by trial technicalities, weirdo?
no subject
[Said tentacle lungs forward and half forms a mouth full of those teeth that would be utterly impractical for nature, but sure are effective for murder- But with a bit of visible effort on Pat's face and a gentle hand pulling it, Toxin is reeled right in. He's got a good leash on his symbiote, all things considered.]
Cops do, kid. Who smacks alien creatures!?Creature isn't much better than monster, Pat...
no subject
Beats me, Officer Tentacles.
[ Once again, she glances down at Toxin, this time slowly extending a tendril of her own. It feels weird - kinda dumb, really, and she's going to be embarrassed about it later - but she's curious. ]
Hey, can you... Can you talk to it? Like, say 'hi' or something?
no subject
Rather than the distinct voices of Pat and Toxin, it's a mingling- Toxin's voice, Pat's tone.]
So you're a relative of Toxin's, huh? 'Aunt' I think.
[A bit of a pause, raising a single long finger but being tentative about touching yet.]
We haven't exactly had good relations with other symbiotes in the past. [Briefly, it's ALL Toxin-]Dad and Grandpa both want to kill me! [But back to the mingle.] We can give it a shot.
[E.T finger? E.T finger. In the wordless, chemical language of symbiote direct interaction-'Hi.']
no subject
But when the finger extends and she doesn't hear anything from her typically silenct partner, her face falls, the mask shifting to express her disappointment. Mania rarely ever spoke to her, making herself known more through faint whispers in the back of Andi's mind, confusing Andrea about what thoughts were her own and which belonged to the symbiote, but it was still disappointing whenever she clammed up. ]
Aunt?
[ Andi glanced down at herself-- More accurately, at the symbiote covering her. Did aliens have aunts? And didn't that mean this was Venom's - Coach's, kinda - kid? Ew. She did not need that mental image. Despite her mild disgust, Mania held her back from recalling the tentacle, carefully tapping it against Toxin's finger in a short lived greeting. ]
So... Coach popped one out? Or his symbiote, did? Y'know I can't really image Coach being okay with offing a kid, even if it looks like a plate of spaghetti.
no subject
Toxin is a bit more insistent on communication. The finger turns into a tendril that wraps around Mania's. Easy enough to run away from, but Toxin is weird by symbiote standards. His idea of family is closer to a human's, having learnt from Pat, with loving respect for a father and loving protection for a child. His 'Aunt' might be more traditionally symbiote in preferring to reject family, but Toxin will have to learn that the hard way.]
Judging on appearances, yours is direct descendent or maybe sibling of Venom. Toxin is the child of Carnage, meaning either aunt or grand-aunt, I guess. As for this coach of yours...
[A shrug.]
I'm guessing the Venom symbiote jumped ship. And to a better host, if anyone is going to call them 'coach.'
no subject
I'm- It's not a descendant. [ Her face falls, white eyepatches tilting downwards like a disappointed puppy's. ] It's his scraps. Parts he didn't want. Leftovers.
[ Wait, did he just insult Coach? Flash may be a nerd with more angst than a goth band can shake a stick at, but he's done too much for Andi for her to let such a slight slide. Reacting on instinct to it's host's annoyance, Mania's tendril once again reaches out to deliver a firm love tap. ]
And don't talk smack about Coach. He's... kinda cool.
no subject
Pat takes control a little more firmly to unwind their fingers and to place a hand on the swatted shoulder, as much to reassure Toxin as because it stung. The face melts back into a mask.
Together, they try to lightly catch the second tap.]
I was doing the opposite. When I met Venom, he was a monster. All he had on his mind was killing whoever was closest and making Toxin here into a weapon to fight Spider-Man with.
[He lets go to look at his own claws.]
So I'd say the symbiote upgraded to a better class of human host, if anyone out there has any respect for the person carrying the name Venom these days. Even at his worst, Toxin wasn't half as bad as that beast.
[He gives her a playful prod, suddenly cheering up from that solemn moment.]
Unless this is 'goth kids like monsters' again.
no subject
But there's no time for gigglefits when Pat's telling her that not is - was - Coach's symbiote evil, but it could be transferred to someone else. Mania tightens against Andi's arm defensively, reminding her not to hope for a normal life any time soon and her host silently reassures her that she doesn't intend to quit. ]
That's a pretty big shift. Coach definitely has Venom, but he'd never fight Spiderman; his blatant mancrush totally wouldn't allow it.
[ Her lips twist up at the prod and she actually chuckles under her breath. He reminds her of her dad, and that... makes her happy. It's strange, although it's familiar and exactly what she needs right now. ]
Then again, he's pretty brutal in gym class, so maybe he is a monster.
no subject
...Right. Well, I can't say I blame him. Spider-Man is a pretty good guy. Wish he'd stop making those weird jokes all the time though.
[This is because Pat's sense of humour is best described as 'weak.']
