[The growl makes it pretty clear Pearl is really getting to her, but she decides to try her hand at smack talk before she loses patience and just tries punching again.]

[First shock, then anger but only seconds of it. It's instantly replaced with delight. Jasper has been waiting for this chance for thousands of years and thought she'd never get it after the whole Steven thing.]

[Within the space of an instant, Rose's shield was on her arm, meeting Jasper's charge head on. She pushes into the shield and twists attempting to knock Jasper off balance.]

And while we're at it, I'd thank you to not speak of my family in that manner.

[That beautiful musical tone rings out when Jasper smashes into the shield, more than knocked off balance. She ricochets off like a pinball, having to go down on all fours to use both hands and feet to grind to a halt.]

That garbage!? They're a joke! [She's being fairly wary now, for Jasper at least, starting a slow circling walk.] I knew you were still around. They couldn't last this long without you.

[Rose shifts her grip on the scabbard, moving her hand fast enough that it hangs in the air long enough for Rose to grip the hilt of the sabre, allowing the scabbard to slide gently from the blade and onto the ground.]

If they were such trash, then why did our rebellion succeed? A handful of rejects and 'lower' gems should have been easy prey for Homeworld's armadas and armies.

[She flourishes he blade before leveling its point at Jasper.]

It's because they have in spades what the rest of our kind seems to have forgotten; love. Their love for each other, the world we defend and the people in it. That is what makes us strong. As for me...

[She just grins and shakes her head.]

I'm long gone. I sacrificed my physical form to bring my son into the world. What you saw on Earth was the might of four Crystal Gems who have come into their own, who love each other, and would do anything to protect the ones they love. I had no hand in your defeat. Still, revealing that Rose is actually gone and this whole thing is just meaningless in the grand scheme of things cuts some of the steam... for a minute.]

[It's so confusing she can't even be mad. Or rather, it's so confusing the anger is kind of taking the long route to get to the front of Jasper's brain.]

Have you forgotten what he did? A gem who is completely untrained in war, who has barely come to grips with his powers stopped a blast from a gem warship more advanced than anything that's been to Earth, and thwarted your security systems by simply walking through the energy fields, setting the others free in the process.

Even you would be hard pressed to call that a liability. I have no doubt that as he matures, and trains with his powers, he'll be three times the gem I ever was.

[All this is said with graphic hand motions crushing an imaginary Steven, with a vicious grin at the mere thought of terribly injuring a small child.

She's mostly doing it in hopes of getting a rise out of Rose, but not entirely sad to say.]
