An awoken muse - King Arthur (2004)

So this is to be my fate is it? To have a single battle of my own choosing, a battle in which I fall at the hands of a Saxon. Only to be brought back not as a strong and dependable horse, but a plaything for another, a puppet not for Rome but for an individual.

Perhaps I was right to not believe in heaven then. That or perhaps I owe an apology to Arthur for doubting that god of his and this is my punishment. Though if that is the case then surly I am not alone here, there must be other's that have followed Arthur that are here. In which case keep in mind that I may have chose to fight and die next to Arthur, but I have no intent of showing such loyalty to one I have only just met.

A brave and honorable knight. (Or is he? She doesn't look as happy and welcoming as she should.) Is Arthur your King?

Brave or foolish, sometimes it is hard to tell which it is. Well perhaps not for Bors, but myself, I would hope that a lady such as yourself might say brave.

As for Arthur, he is no King, at least he was not at the time that I drew my final breath. A kingdom under someone such as Arthur, such a place would be one but of dreams.

So you're familiar with Arthur and his knights? Seems that our stories have traveled quite a distance. [Though Arthur is no King yet.] I am Lancelot.

And just which distant land might that be? I doubt Romans would have much use for stories such as ours.

It is I who should be honored. Honored that such a fine lady would come to see me in a place such as this.

I am of England, the same kingdom which Arthur called home - at least that is how the legend has always been told.

Well I could hardly ignore your words - you seemed rather downtrodden by your circumstances, it would be wrong to ignore such a feeling. I wish to lift your spirits, if I am able.

So you doubt your beauty, or the sincerity of the men who compliment it? For I do not make it a habit of lying to women.

Is it not arrogant of a woman to proclaim herself fairest? I am not so lovely as my sister. But of course the sincerity of men, at least where I am from, always comes with a degree of doubt. Men often have ulterior motives.

But you seem sincere enough, I appreciate such words from you.

Arrogant, not so much if she is truly is. But I suppose a hint of humility is good for even the most beautiful of women to have, it is a good way to boost our egos.

The sincerity of most men should come with doubt, there are but a few that even I trust. Fewer still when it comes to a beauty such as yours.

Humility is good for all, really. I find women obsessed with their own appearances to be insufferable. They're all glamor, no substance.

That is good to hear, a bit of humility is far more attractive than the fairest vanity.
