So. This whole game joining... thing.
I dunno, dude. Capes and superheroes and villains and stuff? There are so many ways that could go badly. So many ways, and they don't involve me falling over more than usual 'cause of freaking super speed or some shit like that.
And besides, you know I gotta-- I can't just up and leave the others. We're like the Planeteers, or whatever. "Our powers combined," y'know?

Officer Friendly's got a real thing for cuttin' people loose - Best you do it yourself before he gets the bright idea to do it first.
no subject
( The most raised of eyebrows. )
no subject
[What, he doesn't go by that anymore? He's no fun at all.]
From the sounds of it, you're a part of his cozy li'l group now. Shame 'bout that prison.
i have to head to work but MEEEERRRRLLLEEEE
( Although she pales a little with the mention of the prison. ) Yeah, you sound real busted up about it.
:')
[Okay, so he hadn't actually gone through with it, but that wasn't the point here. The point was that Merle had given his life to protect that old relic and they'd went and lost it anyway. Lost his brother's new home.
Fat lot of difference he'd made in the end.]
Best watch your mouth, honeycakes. You don't know a damn thing about it.
no subject
What did you call me?
( It's been a while since anyone's talked to her like that. It reminds her of the camp, of Mitch Dolgen and power struggles and all the shit storm that came with it, and she bristles. NOBODY PUTS BABY IN THE CORNER. )
You heard of pots and kettles? You don't know me either, so back off.
( And you know what: ) Who are you, even?
no subject
Guess they don't like to talk 'bout me now that I'm gone, huh.
[Figured.
Then again, why would they? He'd done one dirty job for them, and then they were rid of him. They didn't have to worry about him anymore.]
My baby brother's in real close with Rick. Daryl is still with him, I'm guessin'.
[They better not have fucked that part up, or so help him, he'll rise from the grave a second time.]
no subject
( Tara, don't aggravate the redneck. Not that she is known for a level head and common sense so much as bad life choices. The second part makes her hesitate, a little. ) You... left?
( Since he is standing right in front of her, and all. That means 'left,'rather than the other sense of gone.
Her surprise is near impossible to miss, eyebrows inching up to the ceiling. )
Daryl's your brother? ( Read: But Daryl is awesome! )
Yeah, he's heading up a rescue mission right now. Your brother's a badass, for the record.
( As opposed to Merle, who she is thinking is just a straight-up ass. )
no subject
[First one's free, babyface. Keep going, and then he'll be having some words.]
What d'you think? Got my ticket punched by the Gov'nor.
[It was something he hadn't fully come to terms with himself, but no point in being cagey about it. Denying that he's a dead man wouldn't get him too awful far.]
Daryl always was the sweet one. Stickin' his neck out for those people, like they won't toss him out first chance they get.
[The part he fails to say is that he actually, honest to god hopes that they don't. If he'd truly thought that was the only outcome, he wouldn't have gone off in the first place. He just wanted his little brother to be happy, to have a decent life, even if he'd never vocalize that part.]
no subject
( At that, Tara visibly pales. Brow furrowed, eyes doing that kind of... baby deer caught in headlights thing that she would like to be able to deny, but unfortunately it's got the annoying habit of happening whenever the fan and some shit collide.
Just how many lives was Brian accountable for, exactly? Not that she thinks this guy is much of a teddy bear, but the fact that Brian killed him immediately sets her sympathy meter up a notch. )
He doesn't screw around, does he?
( Jesus. But Tara frowns. ) They wouldn't, though. Daryl's like... I'm pretty sure he's part've the glue. Keeps everyone stuck.

[Douchebag though he is, Merle isn't stupid. Far from it. He knew well what the Governor was capable of, and even better what happened to those who crossed him. Despite his best efforts, he himself had ended up on the receiving end of that particular nastiness. Not a pleasant experience.
He also didn't fail to notice her reaction either.]
Sounds like you'n the Gov'nor have a bit of a past yourselves.
no subject
( Quietly, echoing Merle as her hands twist around each other. Finally, she drops them to her sides and sits, chewing her lip. There wasn't a family that hadn't been fucked about by the world ending, was there? And it wasn't all corpses, some of it came down to human brutality. Maybe that was the worse side of it.
Her voice is hoarse. ) He was callin' himself Brian. We-- I trusted him.
( She clears her throat, hands rubbing over her jeans. This is some stupid bullshit. And this guy-- he's Daryl's brother. He could probably fuck some shit up. He could probably break her in half, actually. Dude's scary, man. Not that it always keeps Tara from being uh, sensible. Softly: )
My sister killed him.
( Not before everything went to Hell, though.)
no subject
[It was how he'd come as far as he had. A man didn't take control of a town, command people the way he had, if he wasn't charismastic. Merle had owed him his life, but had it been anyone else, he'd like have told them where to shove it after he'd been brought back to health.
Oh, he understood too damned well how this girl felt. He'd let it happen, given up more of himself than he should have in that bastard's name.]
Good. Hope he went slow. Woulda done it myself, if I had a shot.
[Well, he had. He'd just blown it.]
no subject
She shakes herself, trying to focus on the question. ) Uh-- I dunno.
( That's weird to say, isn't it? ) He looked beat up from where I was. I couldn't-- I didn't see what happened before, but he was on the ground when Lilly shot him.
( Was that a waver in her voice? No it most certainly was not. Except for how it was. )
I'm sorry he killed you. I know it doesn't mean much.
( Does this mean she's dead, too? This place is weird. )
no subject
*The girl shifts slightly*
Yer already with good people...
no subject
Except, her brow furrow. Wait up-- )
How'd you know I'm with good people?
( IS THIS THE TWILIGHT ZONE
spoilers: yes it is )
no subject
[She then chews along her lower lip slightly before she decides to speak once again] Yer with Glenn? Maggie? Right?
[She offers a little nod]
no subject
Yeah! Maggie and Glenn-- some other prison bros, too.
( So pleased, you can maybe tell a little bit that she idealises those two a wee bit. ) How'd you know 'em?
no subject
Maggie is my sister...(She replies softly) I'm sure ya know by now Glenn is 'er husband with how those two go on and all.
no subject
And the realisation that this is Maggie's little sister makes her mouth drop open a little. )
Uh, seriously? They're married? Man, I didn't know.
( Ah, sweet sweet sarcasm. But, she clears her throat, and there's a quiet "sorry," before she actually resumes talking properly. )
Beth, right? ( Beth, whose father Tara helped murder. Whose home she destroyed and family she split up. ) It's uh, good to meet you.
( Except for all that guilt and horror simmering under the surface. )
no subject
Sorry, that was stupid...
[Though the mention of her own name was enough to make that soft smile itch back along her lips and she gives a little nod. Had Maggie been speaking about her?]
Yeah. It's Beth. And you?
[Like the others, Beth doesn't really have much knowledge of Tara being back at the prison, that this girl before her helped kill her beloved daddy]
Ya should really stay with 'em. Ya know if ya can and want. Maggie can be a huge pain sometimes but she's strong. So is Glenn. You really are with good people...
no subject
( Uh oh, watch out, Beth. The puppy-dog eyes have been unleashed - the last thing she meant to do was make Maggie's little sister feel dumb. ) I was just teasing. ( A pause. ) I'm kinda an asshole sometimes. Not totally sure why your sister and Glenn keep me kicking 'round.
( It must be the ability to find totally useless stuff while scavenging, right? Right. )
They're-- yeah. ( A couple of quick blinks. Emotions are hard. ) Yeah. Maggie's strong.
( Maggie is forgiving, and she's strong, and she said it mattered that Tara was here, now. ) Besides, big sisters are meant to be annoying. Does she do that thing about makin' you watch your language?
SCREAMS, a tara!!
no subject
Might've done y'all some good to listen to me. Maybe if ya had, we wouldn't be havin' this conversation now.
AAHHH yes hello I'm trying!!
Yeah, well. I'm really good at ignoring people. Special talent.
