Unhappy about Mun's plans.

You just think it'll be "so fun" to just do whatever you want with me! I won't have it! You'll just end up getting me killed, won't you?! 

(Mind you all of this is being shouted and in German.)

[Oh boy. Something is not going right. Kazuma does not know any German, so very calmly, he'll ask;]

Would you mind telling me what you just said in English? All I know is that you must be furious with your mun about something.

[Obviously, she is, because he overheard her shouting.]

She...she is going to try to place me in a game! I don't want to go. It's already enough she's thrown me into the Nexus, but now she wants to also put me somewhere else that might be just as odd! (Marie is shaking as she speaks and her voice is still raised.)

I don't understand! Isn't one place enough?!

She keeps claiming that I'll be happy there, keeps saying Jason's there, but I'm not a fool. I know better than to trust her!

[Kazuma listens, and assesses. Calm and collected as he is, he will reason with her.]

Even if this other place was as strange and dangerous as Nexus is, wouldn't it be at least a little better where your friend is? Wouldn't it be relieving to not be the only one from your world over there?

[He frowns, and wonders if she's ever thought of it that way.]

(She suddenly pauses when she hears his reasoning.)

I suppose, but what if she's lying to me? Just telling me what I want to hear?

(Marie frowns. She's obviously very worried about him, she crosses her arms and looks down for a moment. She would like to see him, but she's a little afraid to considering what happened to her in her own world. What if something has changed and that can't be fixed or dealt with. Like he moved on?)

I mean I'm not saying it wouldn't be relieving, but...

Go find out for yourself. What if you don't go, and end up being forever bothered by a what if that never happened?

[His brow raises as he looks pointedly at her.]

I can see how much you're concerned for your friend, Marie. So, don't do it because of your Mun. Do it for yourself, and for him... Showing how angry you are in front of her won't end well.

From my experience, there's a number of people--and a dragon--who have been pissed at my Mun over something to cause them to not trust her. Their anger has been only working against them, from what I've seen.

(Marie is stunned by what Kazuma tells her to do. She looks down, knowing he was completely right. She always hated not knowing the answer. What if? She hates those, hates thinking about those even more.)

(She nods, she supposes she should go and find out for sure.)

I'll go, just to find out...but...I'm aware I may not like the answer. But, what do you mean working against them? Meaning it makes the mun want to do something more or that it makes them think of something worse?

[Really, good for her. She'll have it better than he ever will.

He's okay with it. He truly is. Kazuma has his reasons for not letting his own Mun make any accounts for people from his world he cares about the most.]

Because of their own flaring tempers, they just end up bringing unwanted attention to themselves. [His calm reason remains as his expression shows disapproval on what he explains next.] Knowing mine, she tends to be a sadist at times. Getting angry at her will only enable her to do what she wants.

I learned that lesson the hard way.

[Because she felt so inclined and enabled to make him turn back into the bad and selfish, merciless man he never wants to be again. It was like that a little while, until she lost interest. He's thankful it hadn't lasted very long.]

Of course. You'll be the first to know how it turns out. (She nods, there is the slightest hint of a smile when she adds the following,) Thank you.

(Better? She couldn't be sure if what will happen would necessarily be good or better than now. It was still too early to say or guess how it would turn. The woman would be lying if she said that she wasn't the slightest bit afraid to find out, even though she feels hopeful at the thought. She just worried that what had happened...that it broke what she did have beyond repair. What would that make everything she gave up become?)

Lesson. (She wonders if her mun would really do something that was sadistic... she did like putting others into stressful situations with the reason of "good intentions", would she really do something just to be cruel because it would be interesting?)

[If Kaz knew what Marie was thinking about, he'd just tell her to try not to worry about that so much. Time is a really weird thing, concerning different worlds...]

[He doesn't want to alarm her, and he doesn't believe all muns are like his. He'll just spare most of the details.]

A long time ago, I messed up. I was this really bad version of myself... My mun brought it out of me for a short while.

I won't lie, I was pissed about that idea, and what I should have done was just disappear. Then it wouldn't have happened. Though, only a few saw me like that--so it could have been a lot worse.

I suppose it could have been a lot worse. (She frowns and then finds herself adding) But that still wasn't very nice of your mun to bring up even if it was only for a while. Did she ever make up for it at all?

(She sighs.) So, I'm in that game now...I did find out. (She smiles a little.) He's there...

[He calmly smiles.] Nah, not really, but I'm okay with that. I won't hold a grudge against her, because it's not really worth it.

Helping you and the rest of those I care for is the more important thing.


[His smile becomes more warm.] I'm glad. It's good to know your mun hadn't been lying to you.

I don't know if I could just let something like that go, but I suppose I won't know until it happens or not.

(She nods.) Yeah, I suppose focusing on the others would be the more important thing.

(She looks a little nervous.) I think he's fine but...he seemed surprised to see me...

[Hmm, something about her expression must mean all is not well between her and this friend of hers.]

Not pleasantly surprised? What happened?

I'm pleasantly surprised, but I think something's happened...

(She can't place her finger on what exactly, but something seems off...different.)

[From the look on her face, it's easy to see that something bad happened.]

Is he not telling you about it?

I don't know for sure if something had, but if it really did...then no, he isn't (She frowns.)

Maybe he'll need time on breaking the news...

[He frowns as well, since neither of them know what's going on.]

Maybe. I'll have to ask once things settle down enough. (She sighs.) But he seems happy so I almost don't want to...but...

[wind_contractor]

But whatever it is he's not saying still bothers you. Right?

[He nods] It's understandable. You're just concerned.

Another day, Marie. For now, the two of you should celebrate or something. [He smiles a little.]

It...it might be too late to celebrate. I kind of read him, the...I think my mun's referred to it as the "riot act" before.

(She looks down now, trying to not let her fear show. She had planned and wanted to let it go, but another reminder that there were so many things she didn't know happened and she lost it. She won't go as far as to say that he might hate her now or might just walk away from her, but she is afraid of it happening and she thinks it may.)

Well, at least your friend knows you don't like it at all when he hides things from you.

How it happened? (She frowns.) He keeps that I missed things and I just...snapped? I was trying to let things be. I was. But, now? I need to him to know that I need to know what happened.

(She just sighs.) I...knew better than to do that with him. I know better. (She shakes her head now.) And I still...I didn't want to step on his feelings that way. I hate when people do that to me and trust me they normally do that or something close enough to it.

Don't rush the guy, Marie. He must have missed you a lot too, and had gone through a lot.

(She frowns and looks down, taking a deep breath.) So, apparently where I came from...I died. He said that I died.

Whoever shot you would have killed you. Is that true?

I think so. At least, that's what I think would have happened. (She frowns.) I don't know the details, but if you piece everything together...it makes sense, right? But, I don't think I could have died from what I had when I woke up in the Nexus...

Others who had died? (She frowns.)

Well, if the bleeding hadn't, something else definitely would have. But I noticed you and flew you to safety. There's no need to think back on it much.

[Kaz nods.] They were pretty much dead in their own worlds.

Zack Fair had been shot to death. That's what I was told. If Nexus hadn't brought him around, I would've never gotten to know what a cool and kind guy he's been... [His words drift as she tries to remember something important about the woman Xargin was once in love with.] Can't remember how Sasha had been revived, but some awful racists had killed her.

[Kazuma grimaces some when mentioning about those assholes.]

Yeah, there. It's a simple as that at Nexus.

In this other place...I wasn't even injured when I showed up. (She sighs. That's why she can't help but think back like she has been.) It was more like something else took me before that could happen. (She hates how coincidental the timing was, but she shakes her head.)

I suppose it doesn't matter.
