It's better than being on the other end of it, sure. I'd rather be the guy holding their stuff and giving them the vaseline for their faces than be the guy they're after, shit.

That's a good point. Some things you just can't know until you experience them.

Have you read any de Montaigne? He wrote that, like, concrete experiences have more value in learning than abstraction. He said something like: it's foolish to condemn a thing you haven't experienced for yourself.

Rationally, part of me thinks I can't, but I may not know until I go try it.

I don't read a lot of philosophy, these days; I knew someone who told me about it 'til I felt like there was no point, and now I almost never have time, unfortunately. But I do know a lot about hands-on education, and where I come from, witches are big fans.

Anyway, fuck rational. Not much is perfectly rational about witchcraft.

That's a bit... well, six of one, half dozen of the other. The family, no, the reputation, yeah.

Though, for the most part I'm under the radar, since I'm not hunting every damn thing out there, just the one bloodline, and there's few enough of them left.

I do. Generally to save some amateur from getting killed trying to take on something they don't know enough about.

About... I'd say thirty percent public service, seventy percent personal. Argument could be made for a forty/sixty split. But only barely.
