[The Shadow laughs at Grendel's words. The sound is challenging, and mocking. To fight against a hurricane is futility at its finest. But its winds could drive a mighty blaze if set properly.]

There is nothing 'inevitable' about the future. You would never have taken part in the past if you truly held such a belief. [Men like them could never believe in the inevitable. They both work too hard to change the world around them to believe that their efforts are in vain. The Shadow Knows, they are both agents of change, guiding humanity along their respective courses.]

[Myra has sat at the side of Shiwan Khan and fed the ego there which was part of his undoing. Now she simply smiles, a soft expression of delighted awe that is meant to feed into such grandiose statements, and set the stage for her own coup, or perhaps that of a dark ally of hers.]

Until a few moments ago, nothing more than a story. One made up by weak minds to explain the fall of our leaders.

[Myra is not one to use such feminine wiles to get her ways. It is certainly a tool to be used like any other, but for her, it is not one she has honed. She wins her way into the ranks, rather than a heart. She plays the part of a soldier better than a consort.]

Ying Ko has long been attributed to such things, and many fear to utter his name. To see the terror in the eyes of those who meet Grendel, is a pleasant change.

[She knows of Ying Ko yet she knows of the Devil too. Even the bloody swath he'd carved through the Five Families. Despite the absence of both Hunter Rose and Grendel in the annals of history... it would seem his star still shines in that bygone era.]

A change I would nurture till all cry 'Devil' rather than 'Shadow'.

[He circles her as a tiger would stalk a gazelle. Slow, relaxed, and refined yet possessed of an underlying menace. It's in his stance and the way he holds that walking stick behind his back.]

This terror you speak of is conspicuously absent in your own. Why is that, I wonder? One does not pay the Devil tribute without expecting something in return.

[The normally hard and impassive coolness of Ming Dwan cracks faintly with the traces of a wicked smile as he circles her. His proclamation to change the dying words on men's lips to 'Devil' clearly pleases her.]

I am only one of many wishing to see Ying Ko meet his doom. He is powerful, but he is still a man. I will see steel run through his heart and know the bloodline of Ghengis Khan has been avenged.
