Canon is Matt Wagner's Grendel
You seek to pit this Tiamat against a legion of Marduks. To give countless 'heroes' a villain to conquer. And in doing so, perhaps illustrate the 'inevitable' triumph of Good over Evil.
Juvenile rubbish. I live for The Game. When the ashes settle, there will be neither Good nor Evil.
There will only be Grendel.
[A ripple of refined yet fiendish laughter.]
Off with you then, whelp. Give the Devil His due.

Shhh. We we were gamemates once. ;)
A means to an end, if I do say so myself.
TRULY? :O Wow. Hi. I don't know who you are, but I hope you have been well.
It allows people to bond together. To find each other when they otherwise would not.
Hm, I suppose I just wish for you to be happy with what you will play, but I may be saying more than I should in this small desire of mine.
TRULY. I'm not sure if we ever interacted, but right back at ya! 8D
Well I never said I didn't want to play it. Such bonds will make better challenges, after all.
Does this... 'desire', mesh with your mundane's plans?
Oh, that's too bad if we didn't. NICE DUDE, BTW. I know nothing of him but he seems classy.
Hm? Oh, generally, it does. I love the role that I play. It's familiar. It's home. If I was anything else, I believe that it wouldn't fit right.
Aw thank you! ^^ He really is, and I've got scarily huge shoes to fill.
MOST WELCOME. Are they? WELL, I think you're doing fine. :D
;____; That means everything to someone playing his first villain.
AW. FIRST VILLAIN. That is always fun, and you're welcome!

[And out comes a famous laugh, one that sends chills through a person's bones and causes the devil himself to hide.]
If such is your goal, then the Devil shall most certainly have it's due. [You cannot see him, but he's there, watching from the shadows.]
OH SH
Ah, Senor Sombra! How many moons has it been since we clashed? Still championing your futile crusade?
Forgive me, I have yet to read their mashup yet.
Do eet! You'll love it, I swear.
And by opposing me, you endanger even more of those precious lives you seek to protect.
In the end, you too are my plaything, Der Schatten.
GRENDEL! This was a fantastic series!
So long as evil persists, so shall the forces that fight against it.
[His figure is half-shrouded in shadows. He desires to be seen, to be a reminder that while Grendel is powerful, yes, there are others on the flip side of this coin who can match that prowess.]
You are an element of chaos but hardly deserving of the title you give yourself.
TWO Shadows. I am blessed. *_* And it was! Wish we'd gotten a true Hunter Rose on-going...
Au contraire, L'Ombre. What I do not destroy, I corrupt. Bend to my will.
How does it feel to know I've done just that to your kingdom, decades beyond your time?
:D Normally I play an agent of The Shadow, but could NOT miss this opportunity!
[He has always been driven, but Grendel's meddling has only cemented his resolve to provide a future where such evil isn't allowed a strong hold on the world. He knows he can no sooner snuff out the night than put a stop to all evil, but he intends to make it much harder, and to leave a stronger-lasting legacy than whatever he had previously planned for.]
M'glad you did then. Ooh, which agent? Harry? Moe? The real Lamont? 8D
['The', not 'a'. He doesn't believe in fate or destiny; he hates the very notion in fact. But when it comes to his supremacy, he'll make an exception.]
A candle in a hurricane. But, oh, what sport your doomed crusade will furnish.
Myra. Lesser-known agent from the old novels. ^^; /book nerd/
There is nothing 'inevitable' about the future. You would never have taken part in the past if you truly held such a belief. [Men like them could never believe in the inevitable. They both work too hard to change the world around them to believe that their efforts are in vain. The Shadow Knows, they are both agents of change, guiding humanity along their respective courses.]
MYRA RELDON. I thought no one else had ever read the pulps! \o/
*excited flailing!* YOU KNOW. \o/
Ya better believe it! \m/ Not all 300+ of them, but many of the key ones at least.
I had to. For REASONS!
A bold statement. Made with due cause. [There's a lilt to her voice, her upbringing in China never far as she watches him, her posture tight and disciplined. She has had years undercover to perfect the affectations of a servant, to be visible in a room only when called upon and yet present the entire time.]
It's happening. IT'S REALLY HAPPENIIIIING *o*
Bolder words from one who has heard the thunder without seeing the lightning.
[Or has she?]
What am I to you, my lady?
Believe it! Wooo!
[Myra is not one to use such feminine wiles to get her ways. It is certainly a tool to be used like any other, but for her, it is not one she has honed. She wins her way into the ranks, rather than a heart. She plays the part of a soldier better than a consort.]
Ying Ko has long been attributed to such things, and many fear to utter his name. To see the terror in the eyes of those who meet Grendel, is a pleasant change.
Sleep was so not easy after my previous comment. I was floored. =}
A change I would nurture till all cry 'Devil' rather than 'Shadow'.
[He circles her as a tiger would stalk a gazelle. Slow, relaxed, and refined yet possessed of an underlying menace. It's in his stance and the way he holds that walking stick behind his back.]
This terror you speak of is conspicuously absent in your own. Why is that, I wonder? One does not pay the Devil tribute without expecting something in return.
AT LONG LAST
I am only one of many wishing to see Ying Ko meet his doom. He is powerful, but he is still a man. I will see steel run through his heart and know the bloodline of Ghengis Khan has been avenged.
Welcome back! Hope the move went well.
Went great!
