Mundane,

Honestly we do not have time for this. Between watching over Agent Carter and Mr. Stark I am far too busy for games or play of any kind. I was a bit shocked to find Howard has a son and that he is in our head too. It seems you have a bit of an interest in the Stark family do you not?

Still I need to focus on my duties first if you do not mind.

Thank you,

EJ

I have found that many people have an interest in the Stark family. Usually? A quite unhealthy one.

Yes, well... Speaking as probably the only woman who doesn't have such an interest in them, not like that, I with the other people lots of luck.

How's the misses?

The fact that I'm not falling over myself to get him into bed might be a good indicator? I would like to think he sees me as a friend, a 'pal' as he put it, not a paramour.

I've had worse. It's not a tent in the rain, so already it is a step up.

[She smiles right back at him, a touch of something sentimental in her eye.]

I treasure him just as much. He... He means a lot to me. He was there for me when not many were after... Well, you know. [After losing her Captain.]

Not many can put up with the idiosyncrasies of a Stark. We should start a club.

Yes, well, he... He's a good man and a good friend. I just... I think sometimes he makes some poor decisions.

Perhaps he just needs a good slap?

[She chuckles slightly.]

That doesn't surprise me. You've helped quite a bit. You are still a little green, though. Perhaps I could assist you?

Well, I did train Captain America. I'd like to think I have a few skills.

[Even if most of it was from the super serum, not her training. She grins, just imagining putting Jarvis through the army paces.]

This won't be simple calisthenics?

[Her smile fades as she thinks of Howard.]

I... I am really worried about him.

[And the truth of the matter starts to come out. He's starting to be less of the Howard she knows and more of the Howard that will eventually be Tony's father. It scares her, wanting the old Howard back. The pilot who helped Steve rescue Bucky and wasn't all about money and fame.]

We'll have to make him remember.

I don't know, will your wife let you off your leash, Jarvis? I don't want you to get in trouble with the missus if you come home sore or with a few bruises?

To be fair, I think Howard is still shocked whenever he runs across me. Of course, I'm not exactly 'canon', but I meant the many other Tony Starks running around here.

[personal profile] anationofashandcinders 2015-01-13 02:10 pm (UTC)(link)
He doesn't take non-scientific surprises well. If it's something he can contain and study, he's okay with them. It's the stuff science can't spell out for him that gets on his nerves.

Canon or otherwise.

Nope. If anything, it gets more appealing with age. Sorry, Jarv. Your namesake is just as exasperated as you are about it, for the record.

Hey now... I am feeling like I need to defend myself here.

[Howard at least has the grace to look a bit bashful. Not that he'd ever fully admit it to anyone else. The only reason he even shows this much is because it's Jarvis.]

I think your memory might be a little foggy, pal. I have my bright spots.

[Howard grins.]

Now now. I helped Steve save those Commando's remember? Flew him in when nobody else could. Peg and I were instrumental in that. And, I have saved a few other people to. Do I have to jog your memory on that?

[He chuckled, winking at Jarvis. Still, the past was the past. The Howard he was now was different, even if it was ever so slight. Alcohol and cigars, women in bikini's, his projects and money. Things had gotten darker for Howard, even if he didn't want to admit it.]

So, I like a drink now and then. Who doesn't?

Come on, pal. I am fine. I get things done, don't I? You look like I just beat your cricket team! I have to sleep sometime.

It... It's not that easy anymore, Jarvis. Things have changed since the war ended.

[Howard does at least have the grace to look sheepish. He feels bad about what had happened with Peggy. She was a friend and he'd done wrong by her.]

I don't deserve her. In my life. Being my pal. I... I screwed up.

[Howard reaches up and rubs his eye, wincing slightly.]

[Oh, it rung bells with him. He didn't say it, but he knew. Howard, not Stark. He was in the epitome of the dog house with Jarvis. Even if he didn't want to admit that he needed help, he could concede the fact that Jarvis wasn't wrong.

He sighed, looking up at hi butler and, sometimes, friend.]

Can't ask you guys to help me with everything. It's for your safety. You have to know that.
