Choice? There is only ever the illusion of choice.

Whichever path is chosen, was the path always meant to be from the start. And even if one were to defy what is destined, fate would simply correct itself.

The Dragonborn follows a path as well. Sometimes the path may seem to split into different ones, different paths of fate, but the destination remains unchanging.

You're missing the plot here Herma. What I mean is the Dragonborn could be anybody with any occupation. One of your devout followers could of easily been them as much as one of mine.

In theory, certainly. The Dragonborn could be anyone. They could have come from any of the many walks of life.

Oh, believe me, I have observed the tale of many a Dragonborn since I first entered my mundane's mind. I am no stranger to the many versions scurrying around the universe.

I would expect one with such a limited understanding of fate to come to such a conclusion.

Each individual version of the Dragonborn still bears the fate assigned to them specifically. Further, they all begin the path towards realizing their destiny in the same manner. And they end the same way as well.

And they are all bound to serve me. Whether they wish it or not.

Unless of course the ones behind their journey employ modifications. Then of course the Dragonborn could easily be a farmer.

Then of course when it comes to you all one has to do is not install the content to do so and Miraak will not send his assassins at all.

Leaving them with no reason to serve you.
