You know, you don't need that many excuses or reasons to replay the game. You could have just admitted you missed my charming personality, my amusing sense of humor, and my good hair, and that'd be enough. The whole, 'I have to get everything perfect for that next game' thing was really last play through. Come on, it's not that hard to admit you missed me, is it?

[Merrill...may not quite be getting the right idea here.]
Why don't you ask them if they can meet up again? I'm sure they wouldn't mind.

The only reason I'm even here is because we've been seeing a lot of each other. But enough of that, how are you doing? Hopefully you brought that ball of twine Varric lent you since this place is a ways off from Kirkwall.

[She rummages around for a moment, then triumphantly holds up the ball of twine. The pleased expression on her face doesn't last long, however, turning slightly uneasy as she casts a glance around.]
This place is so much bigger than Kirkwall, Hawke. I'm not sure there's enough twine to go around.
[Still, she is nothing if not optimistic, shaking off the faint worry a few seconds later.]
I've had some talks with some very nice people while I've been here, though. And Fenris.

I told you that you'd eventually make friends or at the very least nice people to talk to.[ Oh, Fenris... ] A conversation with Fenris falls into its own category, doesn't it?
no subject
Oh, no, it's not that!
[It's totally that, who is she kidding?]
It was a very nice conversation. [Sort of.] He must have just been cross because he was being sent to somewhere he didn't want to go.

What do you mean he was being sent somewhere he didn't want to go? [ He's hoping that's Anders' clinic or something. ]

[He didn't even call her witch once, which is a positive thing as far as she's concerned.]
It was one of those places that people tend to go from here, I think. One of those other worlds where things tend to happen. The sorts of things that happen to us, only worse. This one...was a place where he would lose his memories again.
[In retrospect, maybe the conversation was a little terrible, but it had been because of finding out about that place, not because of the way he'd treated her.]

[ He knew asking Merrill for more details would not be the most accurate or best thing he could get, but enough is said that it concerns him. ] Things. [ He repeats because he has a feeling they aren't entirely good things.] Is there a way to stop it? Fenris surely wouldn't go without a fight.

They're not all bad things, Hawke. I went to a perfectly lovely place for a visit for a little while, and nothing bad happened there.
...The bushes were a little uncomfortable, though.
[Right. Moving on.]
But you're right, I don't think he did. I don't think he had very much choice in the matter in the end, though.

[ He'll make a note of that, but he wants to keep the conversation on her. One misfit to worry about at a time. ] I see. I'll talk about it if I see him.

Actually, they were very polite. They didn't complain when I fell into them, not even a little.
[Well, unless one counted the sound they'd made when she fell into them as complaining.]
The frogs, on the other hand, weren't the least bit shy about saying how they felt. You know, I don't think I've ever heard anything quite like them in my whole life.

You're not exactly easily to forget, too, Fenris, and I'm not talking just about the whole fisting thing most people get so hung up on about. [ Get that heart comment out of there, Hawke. ]
