Seems kind of basic. It's a system by which physical items are converted to a card which becomes data of a sort. Working like a game inventory that follow some mathematical rule as was the case of John, a rule of plot convenience as Aradia's and Gamzees or by some method of inconveniently choosing such as Dirk needing to use rap to summon the items from his sylladex.

The sylladex itself would account for the computation power as well. The humans didn't have grubs yet their's still functioned fine.

It would be convenient to have this inventory system, but if it is too much trouble I'm sure you could get along fine without it. This isn't an adventure game after all so you won't be taking everything that isn't nailed down.
