The doctor says he's been taking you with him. [ how come he didn't know about this? ]

[ welp. she wasn't going to push her luck if he wasn't having any of the act. ]

W-well.... yeah? Kinda? He visits from time to time to catch up and then we just go for a quick spin in the TARDIS... it's this really large spaceship that doesn't really look it and it moves really fast!

[zorro]

[ ...you do realize he's picturing the various space ships of their enemies, right? because he is. not exactly comforting. ]

Why am I just finding out about this now?

It never came up? [ Yep. She was definitely getting in trouble. ] I wasn't sure how to bring it up...

[ oh yeah. trouble, definitely. she's in trouble and he's genuinely hurt :c you tell each other everything. being left in the dark is new and not something he's okay with. ]

It should've come up. What happens if you go off with him and we can't find you? How are we supposed to know that you're with him and not in serious danger?

[ venus might be finding out about this soon. ]

[ Usagi winces and just deflates at the lecture. Of all the people she didn't want to upset, Mamoru was on the top of her list and now she was feeling really bad. ]

But, he always makes sure I'm back home on time and safe and sound! I promise I always come home and back to you!

[zorro]

[ mamoru didn't enjoy lecturing or arguing with her, but this bothered him. all this time, she's been running off with some intergalactic time traveler and he was none the wiser. he never noticed. not once. mamoru prided himself on how perceptive he was, especially when it came to usagi, but this had somehow gone unseen. ]

I know you'll come back to me. You always do. But, I don't like the idea of you being somewhere I can't find you.

[ Oh. When he says it like that, Usagi just feels even worse. Because she knows how it feels to be kept out of the loop of the important things and here she was doing the same exact thing to him. ]

I'm sorry, Mamo-chan. I didn't mean to...

[ And she means it. There are no over dramatics here as she just lowers her head in shame and tries not to tear up. ]

[zorro]

[ tears. his only weakness. (no, she is his weakness in and of herself.) mamoru relents, letting go of some of his anger, to reach out and gently clasp her shoulder, drawing her into his embrace. ]

I know you didn't.

[ The hug makes her feel better, but at the same time, she just sinks into his hold and buries her face into his chest. It only took this one action to open up the floodgates of her thoughts. ]

He's my friend, Mamo-chan. He knew me when I was Serenity and he's always checking up on me because he promised Queen Serenity he would.. I can't just ignore something like that.

He knew Queen Serenity?

[ he remembers the queen, though probably not as clearly as the others did. being an earthling, his visits to the moon were few, far between, and extremely forbidden. the only conversation he could remember having with her involved disapproval over the risk he and the princess were taking. there were probably others, but he couldn't remember them.

mamoru sighs, giving in to some of that logic. they were bound to the ties of their former lives, forever guided by the people they once were. ]

Do you remember him? From back then?

[ Usagi just lifts her head up, that way her chin is placed comfortably on his chest. It never ceased to amaze her just how tall he really was. ]

Most of the stuff I remember is Princess Serenity staring at the doors of the Doctor's ship and wanting to go exploring.

[ mamoru peers down at her, fingers toying with the long blonde tails of hair at her back. ]

And here I thought Endymion was the only one she was running off to see.

[ jealous? perhaps a little. (only a little.) ]

Well, if it helps, a lot of the time she asked to go to Earth.

[ Is she buttering him up and trying to easy his jealousy? ... You bet she is. ]

[ ...you're a tricky one, tsukino usagi. but it's okay. because he's going down the path you want him to. ]

Really? So, is that how she managed to sneak away right under Sailor Venus's nose?

No. [ Big huge pout. ] She'd always have to find another way because he always told her 'When you're older'.

[ Then the pout becomes thoughtful. ]

But, then the end of the Silver Millennium happened, and he never got a chance to...

[ as always, when that fateful day is mentioned, a cascade of images rush past of their own accord, serenity crying his name in anguish ringing in his ears. somehow, he manages not to show it. ]

Does being reborn count as older?

Maybe?

[ It's not like she enjoys bringing up the end of an era. Usagi would prefer living in the now -- enjoying the happy peaceful times instead of brooding over the tragic end of the past. ]

I'm not be as old as Serenity was, but, I think I'm pretty mature for my age, right~?

[zorro]

[ agreed. the novelty (if there ever was one) of being the reborn prince of earth's golden kingdom had long wore off, and he's done with being defined by who he used to be instead of who he is now. he's endymion, but he's also mamoru — and more importantly, mamoru is who he is now. one day he'll be king, but that day hasn't arrived yet and won't for quite a while. ]

Well, it's not like you haven't traveled through time before.

[ that's not an answer, mamoru. but he's deliberately teasing her by not answering. ]

Y-yeah, that's true but....

[ And like that, Usagi pulls herself away just enough so that she's not completely against him, but close enough that she's still got his arms around her.

Don't you think that I'm more like an adult?

[zorro]

[ mamoru frowns at her as she withdraws. ]

Of course I do, Usako. [ he untangles his fingers from her hair to cup her cheek in his palm. ] What you lack in age, you make up for in experience. You had grow up fast, been faced with more hard choices than most people see in their lifetime. You might just be the most 'adult' of us all.

[ Usagi had been more fishing for physical compliments, if only because she was talking to Mamoru, but, the seriousness of the compliment makes her heart thump quickly in her chest. ]

You're okay with that... with me like that, right?

[zorro]

[ doki doki, just as planned. ]

Why wouldn't I be?

[ ..... she finally sees what you did there, Mamoru, and just pouts. big time. ]
