...I doubt they actually did take each other out.

[...Or, at least he sincerely hopes they didn't. That would be a pretty sad way to end that battle and as much as he would like to repay the debts they owe to Fairy Tail and Natsu-san, he and Sting have their own fight to worry about right now.

I should warn you, though, that he is not Tartarus' Guild Master, nor even their most powerful member.

Maybe so. But regardless of that, and of whoever else gets in our way – more powerful or not... we are taking our Young Mistress home.

You won't find a Tartarus guild mark anywhere on my body. I have no right to tell any of them what to do. { ... technically, anyway. } Only their guild master, E.N.D., can do that.

That is not possible, at the moment. A demon as powerful as E.N.D. can only be summoned under very specific circumstances. Otherwise, Marde Guille would have summoned him from his Book already.

{ After Plutogrim practically leveled Magnolia, Zeref honestly expected every guild in Fiore to be converging on the place soon. Tartarus was powerful, to be sure, but with the Nine Demon Gates down to just under half of their numbers at best, their lesser demon soldiers being gone, and E.N.D. not around, sheer numbers could be enough to wipe them out completely. }

For what it is worth, Natsu will not take no for an answer in that regard. He has a more personal stake in this than any of us.

E.N.D. has a history with Igneel. { Said completely matter-of-factly. } Igneel was incapable of defeating E.N.D. Natsu will want to hear the whole story. For him, stopping E.N.D.'s return may not even be an option for that very reason, regardless of the ramifications of that happening.

Worrying won't do her any good. She's your mun. She should know how strong you and I can be.

[That grin reduces to a smile, though still reassuring. Marde Guille's strong, sure, and he knows he shouldn't underestimate him (and Sting knows for himself he's not - he's not the hopelessly arrogant Sting of before.) But a few words to boost their confidence should do them good. It's a battle they must win, after all.]

You'd think she should, but somehow that's not enough to reassure her. I'd say, it's on us to prove her wrong.

[Rogue mirrors that smile with one of his own, maybe a little more quiet than Sting's, but definitely visible. They are not the same as they used to be – have shed the attitudes of sheer arrogance and indifference respectively, have come to realize the things worth fighting for – and it's the result of those changes that will surely lead them to victory now.]

As Master of Sabertooth, there's a need to pay the bastard back for even attempting to kill Minerva, one of their guild's own. And as Rogue's partner, there's also a need to not let him down and have his back at all times.]

I have it on good authority that they aren't alone in that.

Rogue is with him on this, from the start to the very end – not just as a member of Sabertooth, but also as his partner. Because Sting is more than just that now, he is their guild's Master, their guiding light into the future and it's on Rogue to be his support, to keep his back free and he will not fail in that.]
