Marvel Cinematic Universe news from Comic Con

Hope van Dyne, huh? Or is it Hope Pym? Either way, it's good to see something positive coming out of this, even if the idea of Jan and I having kids is still somewhat strange to consider. It will certainly be interesting to see how this movie about Scott turns out - I know you're irritated by my role in this, but I'd prefer being a mentor over getting directly involved anyway. Hopefully, Scott can deal with this Yellowjacket person quickly - putting the Pym Particles in the wrong hands would be dangerous.

I'm concerned about the lack of any news on Jan's role in this, but other than that, it seems to be shaping up fairly well.

As for Ultron? Well, it's clear that Tony's personality slipped in there somewhere; I can't exactly see the Ultron that I built quoting lyrics from Pinocchio. Beyond that, it sounds like it's more or less the sort of carnage that I expected from that machine. I'm looking forward to seeing the new additions to that version of the Avengers, though. [He hasn't met Vision yet at the point that he's from, but it's a relief to know something good comes out of Ultron. As for Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch, he wishes that they had joined the Avengers in his universe - in his eyes, it would show that the team valued the idea of rehabilitation.]

I figure you and Jan should have probably ended up together, Pymie Boy. My Pym is... well, lonely, even if he's had the hot catgirl and the hot robotgirl since.

Kinda wish I'd show up though, I could totally rock in that Ant Man suit too.

Well if you got to be with Jan it seems like it's going well, even if it was a while ago.

Exactly, I was an agent of SHIELD before I became Ant Man so it would make total sense. Thanks for your support, dude, you're certainly easier to talk to than my Hank Pym can be at times.

...is every Tony ever going to do things that make me regret being a Stark? I - I - this is not fair. You get to have an adorable baby and be a science!dad who can build all the best toys ever. I get to shave religiously and hope that somehow keeps me from making things that murder and maim while making quips.

Also, Hope? Really? Every Hope my mun knows is Goth, because that's just what happens when you're that on the nose. [Of course, it's canon that Tony, when truth serumed and idly asked by Pepper, said his top baby name choices were Maria, Marie, Mari, Mark, Martin, and Martino, so he's not a fountain of inspiration, but.] I swear this Ultron thing is going to make me pick up drinking. I'm starting to see the appeal.

Believe me, you're not the only one worried by my lack of a role here.

Hello to you too, handsome.

Well, at this rate, I'm just hoping for even a photograph of myself. Something. Though I'm sad that I won't be fighting with the Avengers here.

All of that history, and nothing to show for it.

Then again, maybe I'll have started a fashion empire there.

A girl can dream, right?

[Jan's amused. She's always liked flirting with Hank, seeing him get a little bit flustered when she buzzes into the lab and says something just off-the-cuff enough that he's surprised for a moment.]

I've never placed much weight on it, but let's be honest. You're no slouch in the look department, Hank.

I am a founding Avenger. But that world seems different, don't you think? A world where the Avengers are an initiative created by SHIELD? Fate didn't bring them together - people did. People like Nick Fury.

A darker Avengers calls for a darker heroine. Maybe that's why they went with Natasha.

You familiar with Nostalgia Critic at all?

My mun's personally pissed at the fact that Iron Man is stealing one of your "iconic characteristics". He thinks that since you're no longer a founding Avenger, nor are you Ultron's creator, they're gonna wind up using your only other "iconic aspect".

Take a guess as to what that aspect is, and why he's basically said he's done with the MCU.

In my opinion, this movie looks fucking incredible, and I can't wait to see how Ultron takes on the Avengers!

Okay, one - you're going to be a great dad. You're a nerd. Nerds overprepare and therefore know how to handle weirdness when it arises, plus you know enough about science to buy all the safest child playthings. And I really feel sorry for whoever bullies the child of two superheroes - also I'm hoping they'll show us the PTA meetings, because that'd be a blast.

Meaning well isn't a lot of comfort when I keep seeing other versions of myself nearly end the world or drink like a fish or both. Anyway, if you're that much of a sap over names you're probably going to be the pushover parent, which my mun thinks is cute. This might just win you more fangirls, Hank.

It'll be an adorable childhood full of her inventing things and Jan dressing her in perfect outfits. And you'll be the dad who will think she can do no wrong. I can see it. Besides, there's a ton of podcasts and books on being a dad. If you're worried, study up on it. Pregnancy is your nine month studying and buying things period; treat it like really important science. And speaking from a flashback to my own childhood they gave us, never, ever let your kid use the Bunsen burner. I don't remember much except being banned from the kitchen forever, but apparently the fire department got involved, so - yeah. Beware the genius kid and boredom.

[Tony groans. Yeah, no. His Hank is barely twenty and is awesome, they haven't met Jan yet but Tony's heard nothing but good things about her, Cap is still missing but they were going to go get him shortly (kudos to the writers for sticking Cap in the worst part of the Arctic ever) and Thor convinced Loki to be a good guy. The superhero bar is set really, really high where he comes from and Tony is aware he's been desperately playing catch up to get himself on the same level as everyone else. He's kind of convinced they only agreed to the Avengers idea because SHIELD was so inefficient.]

In my world I became best friends with my worst enemy's civilian identity after he killed my dad, he nearly kills me and my best friends twice, he got within a hair's breadth of rewriting the universe as we know it, and I build a shitty arc reactor that needs recharging because I am not nearly as smart as the other me's. Then Stane's daughter gets so desperate to get attention from her dad she decides to be a super villain and laughs when I take her to jail because he'll finally talk to her, since my superheroism has made me his obsession and I have wrecked her life that much. Oh, and the tech she used to pull that was mine. And it nearly killed her via poisoning because I thought I was smart enough to work with illegal metals. After that I unleashed a sentient hive-mind nanite cluster that grew out of my control and tried to murder all my enemies. I had the tech to create another super villain but after he repented and turned awesome I didn't have the tech to keep what was in him from killing him.

And that was my first seven months of being a superhero.

Did it ever occur to you maybe you guys keep me on the Avengers because all I touch turns into a cyperpunk horrorshow? I will never get why you have anti-fans when my litany of fuck ups is this long, and this is the happy, G-rated universe I'm supposed to be coming from.

...maybe I should start drinking.

Sweetie, do you even have to ask? I mean, love is love, it happens. Sometimes, it's better not to question things.[Granted, the circumstances of Jan and her Hank meeting and falling for each other are probably a little different. Alternate universes and all that.] The alternate universe thing, that gets easier, trust me.

I can't imagine a world that doesn't have mutants. Though apparently some people can imagine a world sans mutants and a founding Avenger. Not that I'm bitter, but how on Earth are those Avengers going to get some style without their resident fashion designer around?

How...how are you and your Jan? [She wants to know that somewhere, at least, they have a happier future than the history that Jan shares with her Hank.] Are you...together?

Same here. Interestingly, in spite of claiming to "quit" the MCU, he's got ideas on how to fix some issues in what would be a trilogy of Avengers/X-Men movies that would confirm the two continuities take place in the same universe.

Said ideas include making you into Ultron's creator, restoring you and Jan to youth, and making you two into the founders of the New Avengers.

[ooc: You wanna hear more, I can PM you some ideas.]
