In the end, aren't all our actions performed upon a whim? Even if you carefully contemplate yourself for a thousand years, at some point you must have that singular moment of 'I shall act now' that constitutes a whim.

Of course, but I act with reason. Not out of "I feel like it".

But is that true? All motivations, no matter how intricate, must begin as a seed known as 'desire.' Desires are not brought about by thought, but my feelings.

Desires are a part of thought. You cannot desire something without a thought.

Can you not? Please listen to my cultivated thoughts, but disagreeing is fine.

When faced with a deadly beast, does a person think 'what dreadful claws, what fearful fangs, what frightful size', then decide that it is best to fear and run? No- from their soul first, they feel it. Terror induces them to move before they have time to use reason or logic, the desire for safety. This same thing is what creates thought. One does not contemplate an action without motivation. A motivation is born at the moment one feels. Love, anger, despair and above all fear- first them, then thought. Knowing ones own soul... That is how to truly realise ones motivations.

Feelings bring about sudden action. But not true action. True action is done deliberately though thought and planning. It is easy to say that a movement brought about by desire is an action, but it ends when that feeling or need is satisfied. There is no true movement behind it, this it does not last. For an action to be a true action, there must be both thought and desire.

I'm not saying there's no use in thinking! I'm saying it's impossible to detach your thoughts from their true roots! Even if the scale is so grand the entire world spins around an idea, that idea is still born from the momentary emotion that spawned it. So long as the one that is acting isn't just an empty machine, of course.

...haaaah... That's so good! It's really cheap, but that's what makes it effective.

Hmm. I spent the last eight hundred years dreaming and I cannot say I ever had such a convenient one as 'anything I wish is there.' It's the nature of all things to not understand their true desires... Unless they have the great insight to see through any sort of illusion as I do.

[His third eye shines blood red for a moment.]

What people want and what makes them happy are entirely different things.
