I don't believe this.
You already have other people to worry about. We both do. Now you're letting these people rope you in because they mentioned my name. I'm through with games--and, yes, I know you know what I'm talking about, so don't give me that wide-eyed act either. This isn't a good idea and you know it.
I'm going back to Paris.

So what's your idea of fun, anyway?

What's wrong with reading a book?

What's in Paris, if I might inquire?

[As long as he keeps fighting, he can believe he has some control over what happens to him. And if that means he can intervene and help those he cares about then that's all Duncan needs.
The question actually gets a modest smile. He has enough grace to look a little embarrassed.]
An old friend. At least for the moment.

Really? Funny, I don't believe you.

[He looks a little bemused at that.]

Something tells me the lure of an 'old friend' must be great to outshine the prospect of a little adventure.

[Well, this is a little bit awkward.]
no subject
Well, don't let me keep you then.

[Someone keeps dragging him around like a rag doll.]

--there is great potential, outside of it.

[He's listening and a little bemused, but also skeptical. It's an immortal thing. You never know what's being planned that could go terribly wrong.]
o man teleios? fistbump for what a pain immortal debts are to calculate.
If one world contains so much possibility - so much to see, and learn, and do - then to have hundreds available to you...I can't imagine not wanting.
( but then benevenuta is perfectly aware that, during her stints in games, her attitude of 'embrace all experience' was very much minority. )
I hate debt calculations. :T
You can find beauty in one world that rivals a thousand other worlds combined. You just have to be willing to look. It takes time and patience. I don't mind travel, but leaving for leaving's sake gets tedious. Some of us like to settle down.
it was fun with her bc she was like INNOCUOUS HOUSEWIFE oh yeah my debt's like four centuries :V :V
Settling down is lovely. It isn't the same thing as not experiencing newness; you know this, I think? ( from the way he talks - about patience. ) But if you can't...why not embrace what you're given instead? It's more satisfying.

Maybe I'm just not the type to go quietly.

[Which is really the point of the problem. He would have gone gladly if he didn't feel like he was being used.]
