I've learned, after many years, to take my fun where I can. Meeting new people. Adventuring. Saving the world. These all sound like fun to me.

I... guess I'm just a little old fashioned. Jumping into new worlds sounds kind of reckless.

What's wrong with reading a book?

Nothing at all, I suppose. Books have their place. Especially if you like to read about other people having all the fun, I suppose.

I guess there's nothing wrong with experience either. I'd like to have a say when it comes to mine, though.

We all labor under the illusion we have some say in what happens to us. And a modicum of control over our fates or at least the privilege to offer an opinion.

What's in Paris, if I might inquire?

I like the illusion. It's been pretty reliable for the most part.

[As long as he keeps fighting, he can believe he has some control over what happens to him. And if that means he can intervene and help those he cares about then that's all Duncan needs.

If one world contains so much possibility - so much to see, and learn, and do - then to have hundreds available to you...I can't imagine not wanting.

You can find beauty in one world that rivals a thousand other worlds combined. You just have to be willing to look. It takes time and patience. I don't mind travel, but leaving for leaving's sake gets tedious. Some of us like to settle down.

I don't prefer being compelled to move, ( by circumstance of danger or the simple fact that she was twenty-two when she first died and she can't stretch out lives the way some can, or by being forcibly uprooted and shoved in weird scenarios here ) but I don't - can't - believe in turning my face away from an opportunity because I wasn't expecting it.

Settling down is lovely. It isn't the same thing as not experiencing newness; you know this, I think? ( from the way he talks - about patience. ) But if you can't...why not embrace what you're given instead? It's more satisfying.

I don't think it's turning anything down that can't be found with people you know and trust. That experience is worth a lot more.
