Why must you sigh so, mundane? Today is but a joyous occasion, is it not?

For it is today that a hero descended into this world to enrich its very presence, give strength to the weak, to rend the very fabric of realities that guide this wicked world towards the monster that men call destiny--!

Still, though, you can be afford to be more excited since it is my birthday, after all! Such a dour expression hardly fits on your grand visage!

I know just the thing--! Come, let us march onward! To grand adventures, stories and fights that will shine the light of pride upon our ancestors--!

Oh, hey! I was just looking for you, Owain! Happy birthday, son! Ha ha, I guess it sounds a little funny coming from me, but I mean it! I can't be more proud that you've grown into a mighty warrior just like in the stories!

Aaaand speaking of stories... Ta da! [He pulls out a fancy leather-bound journal and quill set from behind his back.] Here's your present! I thought you'd want to keep writing so this might help a lot!

Father! Blessed Naga, to see you here... the gods truly smile upon us.

[ Don't mind him, he's just going to hug you. Because DADDY. ;A; ]

Thank you... I have worked to ensure that I bring nary but honor and worthiness to our bloodline... I'm relieved that I have succeeded.

[ And birthday present! Owain's eyes light up in delight as he takes the journal, grinning. ]

This is perfect! With this, I can put to the pages our stories and tales! Our legacy shall be extended into the next generation--!

[ ... and it's for a moment that he breaks his character, just this once, because of that reason. ]

... thank you, father. I truly appreciate all that you and mother have done for me thus far...

[Owain's bright smile was contagious. Ricken couldn't help but beam at his adorable boy while returning the embrace. He pats Owain's hair.]

Your mom and I are super proud of you, Owain! But whether you're standing at the top or struggling at the bottom, no matter what, you're still our son and we love you. I mean I'm sure Lissa can speak for herself, but I don't doubt it at all! I hope your mun understands too! No one should hold you back from chasing your dreams! Just write them all down so I can read about them, it's like I'm there with you!

[ DADDYYYYYYYYY okay yeah, just gonna. Cling a little tighter. And there may or may not be some happy tears streaming down his cheeks. ]

Are you kidding, Father? You're always with me, whether like now or in spirit!

[ Yeaaaaah totally breaking character here. ]

Ah... it's a bit embarrasing, but... one of my weapons, it's... actually named after you. When I bring it to battle, it's like I can feel you cheering me on, pushing me to victory. Even if you're not physically there with me when I wield it.

[Ricken's eyes get so big. For Owain to go through such lengths to have him near, it was touching. Though he'd rather be alive and around to actualy team up with Owain, at least in a way, Owain wasn't alone when he was gone. Ricken won't let that happen this time!]

Y-you named a weapon after me!? No one's ever done that for me before! Hey, can I see it?! Is it big? It's really big, right?

Sure, hold on!

[ Owain leaves for a few moments - and then returns with a Brave Sword. Such a rare sword! And hopefully large enough for Ricken to feel good about it. XD;

As soon as Owain brings it over, he points to the base of the sword, near the hilt, where the name "Ricken" is carefully and lovingly inscribed into the blade. ]

It's this sword, see? It's helped me out of many a battle where the tides were seemingly against me... almost like you were there by my side, warding off the enemies' blows and leading me to victory.

[Ricken's eyes widened at the large blade and he lets out a quiet exhale of awe. His mouth thins when he sees the scratches and how worn the blade's edge is. Owain must have had so many battles. To think his son had been in so much danger for so long.]

[His eyes look down to where Owain had carved his name which showed a dull rust meaning that it must have been there for a while. With one hand, he touches the hilt feeling the smooth letters. His other arm comes up and wipes his eyes with his sleeve. Of course he wasn't crying, but he's so proud of his boy!]

Owain... don't worry, I'm not gonna leave you with just a sword in my memory this time! We'll fight together and -sniff- make you a hero and if you ever have to name anything after me, it's gonna be something that makes you happy, like a dog! Or a cute, soft bunny! Wait, maybe something big, like a bear! Okay?

Father...

[ Indeed, it had seen a lot of use. The blade, aside from Missiletainn, is one of the oldest and most precious blades in his possession now. It stands witness to the many battles that Owain had faced prior to his arrival in the present.

Now he's getting just as misty-eyed as he pulls Ricken into another hug after putting away the blade, grinning widely despite trying to hold back the tears. ]

I'd like that! We should embark on such a quest, then! To find something truly befitting of the honor of having your name bestowed upon it! What do you say?

Happy birthday, cousin!

Here's to another year of growing ever stronger. And, er... legendary!

[ Owain's touched. He can definitely use this, of course! ~~And he's not saying anything about those weird dresses; the less said the better, if Mother's stories and his own experiences were to be believed...~~

More than that! These are more than just tools to me... the facts that you bestowed them upon me alone makes it count as a treasure!

[Owain pls. Control your hugging hand-- naaaaw, it's all good. Lucina hugs back tight, smiling brightly.]

I'm glad to hear it! I'd actually been rather nervous about getting it to you... it's not all that extravagant, and your birthday is special, after all. I feared I wouldn't be able to get that feeling across properly, but if you're happy, then I am happy as well!

Lucina... to me, what matters is not how grandoise or how flashy an item might be. It's the feelings behind it.

The fact that you had me in mind when you were looking for something speaks more to me than if it was expensive or extravagant... that's how I feel, anyway.

Not so much planned, no. My mun did play a bit of our game to celebrate, though, so there's a plus!

Oh! Well, since the Smash Brothers announcement a little while ago, mun's been particularly enthusiastic about doing things with me! It's been quite exciting. ...Although the screaming and squealing could take a bit of getting used to. I'm rather accustomed to Cynthia's since we grew up together, but mun's is of a different caliber entirely...

I see... to be honest, I would be doing the same in your mundane's place. It's a grand opportunity!

[ Don't mind Owain as he posesw dramatically. ]

C-come now, can we really say that when I'm to face so many other legends and champions? I'm humbled just thinking about it...!

[Humbled but obviously happy. Look at that big dumb smile.]

[ Awwwww, it's okay! Owain enjoys playing the large ham a little too much, really, but with the kind of things he comes up with for his speeches who wouldn't blame him? ]

That's the best part! You're as much a part of their stories as you are a part of theirs. So... in a way, our stories will remain immortal.

Even if the flow of time is not kind to any of us, even if we fade away... we won't be really forgotten. For the land and history itself shall stand as witness to these battles.

[It's because he's so creative that it's so impressive!]

I must admit, I hadn't stopped to think of it that way... very well, then! I shall do my best to leave a lasting mark in this chapter of history. With everyone's support, I'm sure it will be an easy feat! [Even if Robin got the majority of the trailer. And Chrom for the FS. ~~grumble grumble hogging papa grumble~~]

So much affection for Owain because he's the absolute best.

He really is... he's my personal favorite of the second gen. characters, NGL.

I've got a soft spot for all the justice cabal kids, heheh ;v;
