Depending on others only makes you look like an idiot if you depend on the wrong people. What head of state doesn't depend on a whole team of people to make sure things are running smoothly? I'd be freaking lost without my advisers and personal assistant these days.

An excellent point, Raven. Though, more often than not, you do have to expect the worst.

Not the worst. If you've got solid people around you, then you should feel confident that things should go more-or-less the way you want them to go. Unexpected problems arise, but they aren't necessarily the fault of the people around you. They're just the messengers for the bad news. And there is the saying about not shooting the messenger.

Nah. We make mistakes, too. But that's just nature. As long as people learn from their mistakes, it works out fine. If they don't...they don't keep their place. I went through three PAs before I I found one that clicked. Advisers and staff are like everyone else - you don't know how they'll fit in until they're there. And if you've made a mistake in choosing someone who isn't solid, then you've got to fix it.
