New Muse. Voicetesting.
First things first, I have to ask you if you're really sure you can handle this and I'm going to tell you that if you can't, then you need to back down now before we both get too far into this. You saw how the last muse turned out and I won't be as easy on you or as forgiving as she was. This means that if I tell you to do something, you do it to the letter and if the time comes when you need to make the call, you're actually able to make a decision without my help. I won't hold your hand when it gets tough.
I see you have some background in legal matters... ("What is this an interview?") however, wouldn't Parkman be more your speed? You'd understand more of his end of things compared to mine. (*Mun glares, muse makes a note of this. He thinks the mun might be more ambitious than he assumed at first.*) Fine, forget what I said, since you're going to be that way and I really don't have a choice here...
Good, you actually understand what I'm saying. (He gives a slight charming grin. He might just be able to tolerate this.) I'm just going to hope you're actually serious about this. If you are, we might just work.

[Hi, Nathan.]

(Hi, Claire. That bit about not negotiating with terrorists was only meant to be implied.)

Gotta say, if anyone can talk their puppeteer into listening to them, it might be you. But I really wouldn't get your hopes up.

(He seems confident enough that his mun will eventually cave in to what he wants to do and how he wants it done.)
no subject
It's just that they're.. Well, they're pretty awful actually. If we're even remotely okay and happy-ish then they're not having any fun. They live to cause us pain.

If anything works give me some pointers, alright? So far, nothing's gotten through to mine, and believe me when I say I've tried.
no subject
If you don't mind me asking? What did your mun do to you?
no subject
She goes for making light of it. Not lying but not exactly telling the truth either.]
I'm uh, I've sort of been stuck in horror movie rerun land for a while now. [LOOK A SMILE. See, it's all good.] Seriously, you should see the crap this place throws at us. Except not. You really don't know how fast you can run till you're being chased by a werewolf. [Little laugh. Then a subject change!]
What about you? Any plans for you yet?
no subject
She was waiting for a friend of her's to come around on one of these sites at some point in the future. Apparently, they're planning something and I'm not sure how I feel about that. But, I'm also not sure if you can call that a "plan", she doesn't and I certainly don't, but it was what they spoke about this week anyway.
(He'll leave out the knowledge he has of "adult" roleplay out of it. It made him internally shudder and crave a drink.)
no subject
Great, so you barely even know what to expect yet.
[Yeah just. Don't tell her and she won't tell him about her uh. Things. THEY SHOULD NEVER SPEAK OF THESE THINGS.]
Normally I'm violently against the whole ignorance is bliss thing, but this time? Maybe it's for the best. Try to enjoy it while you can?
no subject
If we're going to be honest about it, then yeah, I don't know what to expect yet.
(No, even he knows to never, ever speak of such things. It's best to leave some things unsaid.)
Maybe. (He would normally have to disagree, at least somewhat, but she has a good point about it being a good thing this time.) Maybe you're right. At the least, it'll be quiet for once. God knows I could use some sort of vacation from weirdness.

Hey, Nathan.

Hey, Pete.

(His tone becomes cold.) What makes you think I can't stay in control of the situation?
no subject
Oh c'mon you can't be serious.

[Edna shakes her head]
Well, whatever you decide is up to you, of course.
But I suggest charcoal suits, they bring out your eyes.
Edna! *is excited*
Charcoal, huh? I'll consider that.
(Then he looks over at her.) And may I ask who you are? You seem familiar.
Re: Edna! *is excited*
Oh, I am WOUNDED, darling!
[Edna presses a hand to her chest in a dramatic fashion]
I am Edna Mode, fashion designer to THE GODS!
But you may call me "E", should you like.
[Her tone changes from melodrama back to a more conversational tone]
And getting back to the topic at hand, yes, decisions DO need to be made, but the question is, are you strong enough to make the RIGHT decision?
no subject
Yeah, E, ...Gods? You're talking about Specials? Supers, according to others? (He is trying to keep that part of himself hidden. Though, he supposes he hasn't done a great job at that.)
The right decision? May I ask what decision I'm supposed to be making here?
no subject
It's nothing more than a load of long necked stone faced women squawking about, making demands, and eating celery.
[Edna's lips curl into a knowing grin]
And yes, I'm talking about those sorts of people, those "gifted" to a certain extent. You see, with everyone, there is a choice between doing what is RIGHT and what is EASY.
While those who choose what's right are not always respected, they can always be counted on and they can expect their deeds to be justly paid back in turn.
Of course that choice is always a very personal one.
no subject
(What he says next is simply him trying to justify himself. Though, he knows that she is right. Entirely right.) The government has to ensure that knowledge is kept in the dark. You should remember what happened years ago, of course, a lot of those lawsuits were frivolous, but it caused chaos, started making people uneasy. It was proof that people couldn't accept them.
You are aware that it would take one super villain to ruin everything for those who are gifted, aren't you? One Sylar, for example, a person who wants to cause harm for his own goals. One that loses control even and that even being on accident.
Of course, you're going to tell me that's why it shouldn't be secret any longer.
no subject
Mister Petrelli, implying that I would tell people to give up their secret identity? To force them to be super all of the time instead of being normal all of the time?
No, there is a time and a place for heroics and a time and a place for being "normal". All I ask for is that those who have the power to change things for the better be able to do that, you see?
As for villains, darling, they would exist with or without heroes to stop them. Both human and super, everyone has the potential to be selfish, greedy, violent, corrupted.
... Oh, and what of those who are lost? Those that do not understand who and what they are, hm? Should THEY be made to suffer, wondering why they are what they are? Keep everything a secret, and they will never live up to their full potential, darling, or worse, fall to their darker natures.
no subject
I agree that there is a time and a place for things. (He pauses and gives what else she tells him some thought.) I see.
(He is quiet for a few moments before finally speaking in a mutter.) Those who are lost? I suppose I never considered that.
no subject
Why, even I have to make choices. Is the fuschia too overpowering, and I should go with lilac instead? Or was my first impulse the correct one?
Believe me when I say darling, that there have been souls seeking fashion advice that I have sent elsewhere.
no subject
(Yes, he needs to make his choice soon. He has figured everything else needs to do out. But this last choice is definitely the hardest one.)
(He nods.) Sometimes you have to send people elsewhere.
no subject
[Edna gives a small, satisfied, smirk]
But do come back anytime, darling. You're enjoyable to chat with.
