You really just need to let it go. I look how I look and there's nothing either of us can do about it for now.
I'm more worried about finding Anthy again.
I'm more worried about finding Anthy again.

It has been a while, hasn't it?
no subject
Anthy it's been--
How are you?

[Her voice cracks a little with the sheer joy of this reunion. Before she can catch herself, tears fall.]
I'm fine, Utena.

[They don't get a 'fine' even if she still has hopes that one day they will.]
Maybe I shouldn't say this. Maybe it shouldn't matter but--
It's been weird without you, you know?

I don't-
[She feels her cheeks flush and she looks down feeling her eyes water again.]
Utena...
[She reaches out then, barely a tentative brush of fingertips for her Prince. Her eyes remain downcast.]

Anthy--
[She leans into the soft fingers against her cheek, smiling down at the bridge of the smaller girl's nose.]
It's going to be all right now.

I-
I thought I lost you. I couldn't lose you too.
no subject
I thought I failed you. You fell.
[Hatred. The wound in her back. The portcullis-- There had been a lot of strangeness and pain in those few moments to really pay attention to everything.]

[She sounds delirious, lost in the wave of emotion.]
Even after all that I've been and all that I've done, you saved me.
[Traitor. Whore. Witch. Even now the swords run her through - but that doesn't matter. She's free of him and free with Utena.]

I promised you.
[It just took her a long time to remember it. She promised and she tried to keep her promises. Even to people who hurt her..or threatened to poison her...or shoved swords into her back. She still didn't understand that one but she didn't want to ask.]
What sort of prince would I be if I didn't keep my promises?
no subject
Please don't say that. You're not a prince or a knight or anything else from that awful nightmare of a place.
[Cradling her face, Anthy continued.]
You are amazing and you are the best friend I've ever had. You are the best person I've ever known.

[But...but she was a prince. Didn't she deserve that much?]
I don't-- Anthy, I don't understand.
[People forgot her. She knew that. Someone that had shone so bright was easily cast aside.]

Princes are like stars, Utena. They are brilliant and amazing and they burn out.
[The others could rot in that coffin, the only one who mattered anymore was here.]
But here you are. Still shining.
no subject
But-- But only because you found me. I don't know what I would have done if...
[It was so hard to speak, there was too much to say and not enough ways to get the words out.]
no subject
I-I...

[It was difficult to hold back the flood of emotion after that. It wasn't Anthy's fault. Whatever Utena didn't understand no longer mattered. Anthy's lips were soft and Utena didn't let go.]

(well thank you! It's a character I've been meaning to pick up for awhile.)
