Uhmm. Excuse me, Miss Mun? Not to be rude or anything, but I'm not sure I want to be here. I mean you seem nice and all (you're a lot nicer than Mrs. Kline at least) but I just...I want to be at home with Mom right now. Everyone here is staring at me because I'm new and I don't like it. Some of them are kinda big and have very sharp teeth...
[Dragons aren't supposed to be real right?]

Are you okay? Is she treating you well? She isn't planning on putting you in any dangerous situations, right?

What do you mean big and have sharp teeth? Have they tried to bite you?

I'm okay I think. And Miss Mun is nice enough - I don't think she is planning on doing anything mean to me. The other kids here say that she doesn't put them in bad situations, anyway.
Well...you remember all those bedtime stories you and Dad use to tell me about knights and princesses and dragons and stuff? There's a bunch of dragons and other monsters in here, except that they don't call themselves monsters. And they haven't tried to bite me, don't worry! They are just...staring.

And to hear there are other kids where he is is makes her feel a little bit better about the situation.]
Have you made friends with any of the other kids yet, D?
Just be careful when it comes to the dragons, okay? I don't want to find out if it's true that they like to eat little boys with ketchup. [It's said with a laugh and an affectionate hair ruffle, if only to offset the case of nerves from knowing that her baby is somewhere where there are dragons, of all things.]
no subject
No, not yet. I don't want to bother them right now.
Ewww. You don't really think they will try to eat me, do you? I thought that they only ate princesses.
no subject
Only princesses and little boys who don't eat their vegetables. So you're not going to give one of them a reason to eat you, right?

Kino could never understand so-called maternal affection or instincts, but she found the child's situation rather pitiful. Kino will put on a comforting smile and give it a shot anyway:]< /small>
Hey there, what's your name?
no subject
Hi...I'm David. David Murphy.
no subject
Hi, David. I'm Kino.
[She gives the restored, antique motorcycle beside her a pat.] This is Hermes!
... have you found your mom yet? Do you know where you live?
no subject
No, probably not.]
Oh, yeah. I found her. Or she found me. Things will be okay, I think.

There's a strangely distant look in her eyes, even though she's still smiling.]
— I'm glad to hear that.
Hold onto her and be careful not to lose sight of her, alright? This place sees a lot of people coming and going... it's very easy to get lost.

It's not so bad, David. My mun knows yours, and she says they'd never hurt you. And there's . . . quite a crowd in here as well.
[He kneels next to his son, not sure whether to reach out for a hug, still not sure of his own strength.]

I didn't know that someone could get so many people and giant mons- I mean, animals in one place. It's...really big in here.
[Small talk, always the small talk now. He hesitates and stares at Alex for a long moment when he kneels before finally walking over to him, looking like he would very much like a hug but doesn't know if he should.]
no subject
Guess that means there's plenty of space for you to run around, huh? Have you found anyone to play football with yet?
[His voice is slightly choked. Seems like those nerves are still working just fine.]
no subject
There's a few other kids in here that have offered to play with me but I haven't joined them yet.
no subject
Well, what are you waiting for, boy? Go make new friends. I know they'll love you.
[He ruffles David's hair carefully and smiles.]

[He taps his silver chest playfully.]
And youy've got your very own knight in shining armor.
Now, they might be bad dragons, but they might be good ones. You've got to gather evidence first before making that call, okay? If they're wicked dragons, then I'll come protect you. But if they're nice, then you can make friends. Wouldn't that be great?
