I am hardly "shy", mundane. Not wishing to speak to one the same as myself is personal preference, as one learns very little from mirror images.

I suggest that instead of wishing me into social pursuits that have no merit, you instead take the time to decide whether I am a good fit for you or not. Voice testing, as you call it. Figuring out our standing before leaping is always a good idea. Don't rush.

[As she spoke, Tohko would look a little puzzled at the comments Mephisto made, and, while his username heavily implied that he was a vampire and not a demon, she just kept on smiling. After all, not all vampires were bad, and while they could be scary sometimes, they were far less terrifying than ghosts.]

I don't think that just because you've met another vampire means that they're a complete copy of you. They probably have their own personal histories that are different than yours, even if they have a few things in common!

[And Tohko was probably misinterpreting things again. She really did have to learn to stop making weird assumptions someday.]

And I think all social pursuits have some merit, even if they're painful sometimes, and even if you don't always like them. After all, you might learn something because of it during or after the fact, and you might gain a new friend!

And I don't know if your username is ill-fitted or not..but if your mun does decide to sent you to a game, I hope you both do well there! Hopefully she won't send you to one with too much horror.

And you might be a good fit in a horror story! I can see you walking down shady alleyways at night dressed in fine clothes and using a silver cane to kill anyone who dared to cross your path or annoy you! But horror games are different. Even if you were a terrible person in your own world, there are usually people far worse in horror games that can really hurt you. Even villains can be hurt badly by other people.

And you wouldn't be the villain of my story. I don't really have any villains of sort..just a whole bunch of delicious books that are tied to mysteries, misunderstandings, and eccentric people. So you're not the villain of my story.

[He can tell. He is able to differentiate between bad people and good people. He's quite skilled at it really, if only because where he's from, the villainous sort are a dime a dozen, while the good are few and far in between.

He offers a tight-lipped smile.] Curiosity is fine, though I'd suggest to be cautious about asking too many questions of a stranger. You never know who you might be dealing with, miss.

[Tohko, sadly, did not have the same talent. Sure, sometimes she was able to pick up on whether a person was horrible or not, but she was just as liable to pin people as murderers because of a bad assumption she jumped to and thought was correct. Being a strange book girl in a normal world with strange, morally grey people caused that to happen sometimes.

And she would just return his tight smile with a larger, warmer one of hers. Sure, he was probably a terrifying villain in his own world, but he was being rather polite for the moment.]

Well, that's why I'm asking so many questions! I don't know who I'm dealing with, so I want to find out more about you, and the only way to do that is to talk with you and ask lots of questions! Though, with that said, we should probably introduce ourselves. I'm Tohko Amano, the book girl.

Well, that depends upon which tale you look at. In some, they're horrible liars, in others, they tell the truth, even if the truth is so horrible that it shatters people mentally, and in others, they just lie by omission to try and get whatever outcome they desire. So, I don't know for sure whether your answer to my question will be true or not. But I do know that if I don't ask it, I'll be left with no answer at all. So, please give me an answer! And I'd prefer it if it was the truth.

Seeing a small opening for an answer, Tohko nodded, though the grin on her face probably destroyed any believability her words held.]

I might be! This is the sort of question that could change how a person looks at another, so I wouldn't let it alone until I had an answer! Even in my dreams, I'd think about it!

I give very little thought to dreams, but I presume they're normal.

[He has no idea who this person she speaks of is, but in the context of the conversation and her wording, he can assume that it is some sort of superstition about a sleep bringer, akin to, or perhaps the same as, the 'Sandman'.

Of course in her world, he may very well be real for all Mephisto knows, so he's not questioning whether or not she's delusional.]

[For better or worse, Ole Lukøje and his brother didn't actually exist in her world. It was just another Sandman figure that was in one of Andersen's stories. So, she wasn't delusional, just not hiding the fact that she's a massive bookworm. If Mephisto asked, she would have no problem with telling him about the character.]
