AU Peggy is Undecided on Being in a Game
After everything that happened the last time that you considered placing me in one of those 'games' I was certain that we wouldn't try this again. The Infinity Formula that you've read about is a neat solution so that I can continue being a part of SHIELD, but that doesn't mean that this is a good idea.
You do realize that you're fighting dirty by bringing him into this. You know that I've never forgotten that promise I made to teach him to dance. [And, despite how much time had passed and all her attempts to put that behind her, she has never completely gotten over her feelings for a certain captain.]
Bringing Tony into this should also be against the rules. You know how I feel about him and about how Howard treated him. No matter how much I'd like to meet him, it would only complicate matters.
Please go back to your stories and leave all of us in peace.

[He's curious, mostly because he's worried about her safety. But if another him's there, he knows she'll be taken care of.]

She's considering some place called Abax or another where I'll meet Tony.
Are you all right at Som?
no subject
Nothing too dangerous?
[Because that is very much a concern, even if he knows she can handle herself just fine.]
Yeah, it's been...quiet? [A soft sigh. He's missed everyone so much, especially her.] But Tony's back now. Thor too, and-- [Schmidt's there now, even' but he can't manage to get that out.]
no subject
And this Infinity Formula would make me more - [She pauses, not really sure how to explain it.] - It's not like the serum, but similar. It would make me almost immortal.
I'm glad Tony and Thor returned. I know how much you missed them.
no subject
[As for the formula thing, he raises an eyebrow.] Immortal? Really? There's one like that?
[And a smile. He's glad too, he really is.] You might be coming back. Or, really...another you. And Bucky too. [But he can't make it sound all great and wonderful forever. He'll have to tell her about Schmidt at some point, won't he?]
no subject
[It should hurt to know that another version of her will be with Steve, but instead, she's grateful. He should have that chance at happiness. They both should.] It sounds like you'll have your entire team soon.
no subject
Just about. Mun say's were only missing a few, and we'll have the whole Avengers group. But-- [okay, deep breaths. Just because he just found out about Schmidt being there doesn't mean he can't tell her---]
Schmidt showed up too.

Steve was supposed to be dead too but he had somehow managed to survive.
Something dangerous flashes in her eyes. She should be there, helping defend Som from that monster. Or, better yet, she should have a chance to kill him like she's wanted to for decades. Taking a deep breath, she reminds herself that she needs to remain calm.] Has he harmed anyone yet?

Our mun's are plotting, though. Bad things.
no subject
Mundanes always planning bad things. [Despite the softness of her tone, it's obvious that there's a reason why people in SHIELD hide when someone has set off her temper.] It's what they excel at.
You and your team will get past it, Steve. He won't win. You won't let him.
no subject
So I've learned. [A bit of a sigh, but he gives a little smile at her last statement.]
I hope you're right. But I stopped him once. All of us combined, there's no way he can win.

She won't send me to this place unless I agree. And...that Margaret has her chance. I've had decades to live my life. I should put certain aspects of my life to rest. [Even if she would love Steve until she died, which could be a rather long time in human terms.]

I'd like to see you. There, I mean. In Abax.
[Hoo boy. Now comes the 'why', right?]
no subject
I'd like to see you too, Steve. I'm just not certain if it would be a good idea. I'd be different than you remember. [Decades older and...well, she knows that there's a version of herself there that is closer to the person he remembers.] And there's probably someone else there that wants...to teach you how to dance.
no subject
It'll be different, yeah. I mean, not in a bad way. I don't.. no, not in a bad way.
[Nope, still doesn't know how to talk to women.]
no subject
But there had been changes, especially after she had lost him without having the chance to tell him how she'd felt. Ones that had made her more forthright than before.]
Steve, there's another version of me there and even with all the time that would have passed since I saw you, it'd be difficult for me to forget how I feel - felt - about you. It wouldn't be fair for any of us if I was sent there. Even if I might want to go.
no subject
So, what does your writer want to do? I hear they usually do what they want regardless of what we say.
no subject
My writer is curious. She wants to put this 'au' version of me in a game, but the final decision is mine. She knows better than to force me into a situation I don't want.
So, it would depend on what I wanted...and what others in the game want.

Aren't things always complicated? You might as well grab the good while you can.
no subject
Yes, Ms. Bishop, they usually are. If I was certain that my mundane was planning something good for us all, I wouldn't mind the complications.
no subject
[He stops and sends her a small grin.] How are you, lovely lady, by the way?
no subject
[Stepping closer, she looks up at him and smiles. Yes, she did remember not to wear the heels, just like she always did when she was with him.] I'm getting a little dusty. And impatient, but I understand that others are more interesting than me.
no subject
[And he more than definitely notices that and he's smiling because of it. Reaching out, he lightly takes her hand in his own while the other lightly presses into the curve of her side. Nothing pressing, just warm in presence.] I say it's time to brush the dust off then and enjoy the bouquet. Unless you object? Because right now, you have my complete attention.
no subject
Smiling softly, she laces her fingers between his, her free hand sliding up his arm to rest at the back of his neck.] No, I won't object. I've missed you.
If my mundane decides to go through with this, are you certain that you would want to accompany me? It would mean giving up most of things that matter most to you.
no subject
Drawing the joined hands to his lips, he kissed the back of hers before pulling her into a slow elegant two-step to music likely only the two of them could hear.] I've missed you as well.
And that's a silly question. I'd find a way to move planets, stars or suns, physics be damned if you asked me to. Besides, think how disappointed my mother would be if she knew I let the lady love of my life trot off alone. Unacceptable. And in the end I'd still have you.
