Well while ninja and pirates may have coexisted and fought for all we know, there's really no historical precedent for anything like that. Anyway, good ninja aren't just enemies with someone just because. There has to be a good reason. Like them kidnapping your girl's dad for example...or uh...you know trying to mutate the city.

Suppose you've got a point there. Pirates might toss off over nothin', but ninja are supposed to be all about bein' smarter than that aren't they?

Well generally yeah. Ninja are-- are supposed to be intellectually superior [with one pizza obsessed exception] but aside from their captains, especially if said captains were privateers, most pirates would be illiterate and ignorant of even the most basic dietary needs. Like the importance of citrus, for example.

If you compare the two, I'd say it's better to be a ninja than a pirate.

True, but illiteracy was more a mark of the obscenely large class divide more than any particular job. It's no surprise that the poorer would become criminals to try and get ahead, and then, well what other jobs are there for them? Bad social system breeds ignorance and all.

Wouldn't tell my sister being a ninja's better, she'd fight you on that one. Probably win too.

Yeah but it's still a choice, isn't it? Times are bad so you get on a pirate ship and make it worse for other people just as bad off as you are? [but, of course, that's why people needed heroes]

I'd argue that any day of the week! Heck, I'll even create a flowchart. I just need to find paper and a couple of jumbo markers in various colors. [now where to get those around here]

Not so much of a choice if you're starvin' on the streets and someone offers you a place to sleep and food though. Potential to make money, especially if you've got a family to feed.
