Canon binge leads to game hunting.
You're really dead set on doing this? [Sigh.] Talking you out of this probably won't work, but I have a request. Just... try to pick a good one, please.
-That means "no zombies". That's not up for negotiations.

And Claire'll find her brother!
no subject
Not if I find her first, you mean. She's my sister. I have to be there for her. That's what brothers do.

Zombie-free as far as I know.

Don't worry about me. Besides, I'm more concerned about you.

[He's not even out of 1998 yet, and he's already had his own future shoved in his face. It's almost more than he can process. He makes a puzzled face and rubs the back of his head.]
no subject
[ She crinkles her nose when he makes that face, furrows her eyebrows a bit. ] What's on your mind?

HI I'M SORRY been away a few days
The other one... [ A pause. Then she shudders, feeling sick all of a sudden. ] Never mind. Let's not get into it.
[ She shoots him a sympathetic look, trying to smile through it. Give him a little hope. ] I think that might have been a really, uh... special case. I'm sure they're not all bad.
No problem! Just sneaking in a waaaay late night tag. :)
[One side of Chris's mouth quirks up into a little smile.] yeah. You're probably right. And if it does get a little hairy, I'll figure something out. We've handled worse before, right?
no subject
Her smile's a little sad when she thinks about "future" Chris. He's gone through so much. ]
Gonna need someone to pick you up off the floor if you fall on your ass though. [ She gives him a playful punch to his arm. ]
no subject
[He mock-winces at the punch and rubs his arm in an exaggerated manner.] Ow! I forgot how hard you can punch! Have mercy on me!

You'll be just fine.

I'm not trying to put the past behind me. Just the zombies, Captain. [Now he just sounds angry.]

That's it, Chris: a step in the right direction. No need to delude yourself with the idea that you can be rid of the can of worms you opened at the Spencer Estate. [His mouth draws back into a smirk.] After all, you were one of my men. I expect better of you.
no subject
The can of worms I opened? No. You're the one responsible for what happened. You killed them. And so help me, you'll pay for it. No matter how long it takes, you- you son of a bitch! I swear, you'll pay...!
[Chris is practically trembling with fury at this point.]
no subject
It's nothing personal. [The words are so flippant, like he did nothing more than squash a few flies.] You and Jill insisted on poking your noses where it didn't belong. The repercussions for that are all on your shoulders. [It's all business and personal gain. If you'd just died like good little test subjects, we wouldn't be here, now would we?] Such hollow threats.
no subject
Nothing personal...! [One of Chris's hands clenches into a fist at his side.] You were planning on killing us. I'd say that warranted investigating! [They were not and never will be test subjects. They're human beings.] I don't make threats, Wesker. That's a promise. And I intend to keep it!
no subject
Oh, I think you misunderstand the importance of your roles. Pitting the S.T.A.R.S team against the bioweapons in that house provided valuable research data. [Because that's so much better.] How noble of you, but I'm afraid you'll find that road ending only in a broken promise.

no subject
Only in fairy tales, Chris, but by all means: do try. I will enjoy crushing you.
no subject
That Tyrant couldn't kill me. What makes you possibly think you could? [And why does he get the feeling he's going to regret that question?]
no subject
Because I'm greater than a Tyrant. Would you care for a demonstration?
no subject
What- you're- what did you do?!
no subject
I shed my frail humanity for a far greater existence. [With his free hand, he clenches his fist and raises it, as though he can feel the power coursing through his veins.] I have power.
[And with all the suddenness of a snake, Wesker darts forward in an inhuman blur and swings that fist down towards the side of Chris's head. Whether or not he wanted a demonstration, he's getting one.]
no subject
Guh-
[He raises his head, and even through the blood running down from his hairline, he glares at Wesker with nothing but distain.]
You freak.
no subject
You couldn't possibly understand. Humanity is riddled with weakness, yet you stubbornly cling to it. I almost pity you for being so blind. [He tilts his head just so to the side, looking down his nose at the marksman.] Tell me. How was it you intended to stop me?
no subject
[He's never hated someone in his life as much as he hates Albert Wesker.]
I'd figure something out. [Or, failing that, he'd just shoot until the bullets are all expended.]
no subject
And I'm calling your bluff, Chris. [To emphasize his point, he reaches down and attempts to grab the other man by his throat. Should he fail to move, he'll be hoisted - quite forcibly - up into the air where his feet can no longer touch the floor.]
no subject
[But he clamps down on the panic before it can get any farther than that. Chris grits his teeth and tries to get whatever scrap of air he can around the vice grip on his windpipe. And all the while, that glare never leaves his face. It's an old-fashioned stare-down. It won't change anything, but like hell he's going to give Wesker the satisfaction of breaking him.]
