Darling, while I think it's charming that there's a game you wish to send me to, let me remind you of three very important things. First of all, while the setting sounds charming, it does seem rather like I'd be Phantom Lady more than...myself. As I told cousin Ted, I'd rather that I come first.

Secondly, it's a far more modern setting than where you would be taking me from. A woman from the 1940s suddenly thrust into what you would consider the modern day? Certainly, I might enjoy more social freedom, but then again, society has never truly stopped me from being myself, has it? If anything, I have always marched to the beat of my own drum.

But third - and really, this is the most important - you simply haven't the time to give me the attention I need, and believe me, I do require attention. I'm not content to simply sit in one's head (as I have for awhile now, it's true) and do nothing. Even if not fighting crime, I must be out socializing or spending time with one of my many beaux.

Between work and school, darling, you have a few decisions to make.

It's a bathing suit. I suppose I could go invisible if it would terrify you less, but there's really nothing wrong with this outfit.

Eeeeh, bathing suits are so wrong... It's way too...Lacking in layers!

Perhaps. I've never found it to be an insufficient outfit. In fact, I've always managed to accomplish whatever I've set out to do when I've donned one.

It's not about practicality, it's about style! I've done some amazing things whilst naked, but many layers is still the best!

I've never actually been accused of not having style before. Quite a new situation, this.

I assure you, though, I don't need layers. I need the element of suprise, which I possess in spades.

No.

Not in the very least.

You are a rather demanding woman then.

Am I? I've certainly never considered myself to be so.

Or do you find me demanding only because I have opinions and desires, and I put voice to them?

No, merely that you stated that you wish for yourself to come first. As well as that you claim to be incapable of sitting still.

I meant my civilian identity. Unlike some, while I do enjoy what I do as Phantom Lady - and while I'm certainly quite good at it - I am more than just that. I'm not consumed with vengeance or sent by some higher power to change the world for the better. I do what I do because it's the right thing to do...but it's not all that my life is about.

And yet it is part of your life. And will become part of your identity.

It will. I know it will. And I am proud to be who I am, and proud of what I do. At the same time, I am well aware that I don't make the impact that Green Lantern, Starman, and the others do, nor have I set out to specifically do so.

Bah, even the seemingly small can be a giant.

There's truth to that. Believe me, I'm not one of those people who don't want to fight crime. I do! But there's more to my life than Phantom Lady. I can't - won't - let myself get consumed by it. That's a very conscious decision of mine.
