Hiatused.
I see.
There is much you need to discover while you are away, mun. For yourself. Should you decide to pick up your pieces and regain what faith in yourself you have lost over time is all up to you.
I do not know how much service I, nor the other players you have, could be to this cause.
I do think there is much you need to accomplish first before truly heading forward. You seem to have that sort of clarity.
I can wait for that day to arrive that you decide to return. I have enough patience.

I assure you, my time will be well spent on plenty of matters to keep myself occupied. I am not, and should not, be anyone's concern.

On that point, I find I disagree. Family should always be a concern. [A shrug and a grin.] Do as it please you, then, I'll not stick my nose where it isn't wanted.
[... For once.]

However, everything aside, Connor heard something that caught his attention moreso. Edward muttered the "F" word. What was the most logical way to go about that then? These two would be trekking back and forth a long time before being on similar ground, he felt. But maybe it wouldn't be so bad? After all, Edward just kind of dished that word out and Connor hadn't said even a one syllable word that suggested he was related to him.]
"Family"?
[Let us just start with an explanation. You said it, not him.]

[Savvy?]
You'll have to forgive the youth of this oldster. Seems I'm behind on a fair amount of things.

[He said this with a little bit of a downer tone. For the sake of this though, he doesn't go further into that (for now). His eyes have, however, become more downcast. It looked like some part of him decided to give and concede; let out something inside. Probably the most emotion Edward would see from him to date. The jig was up, so to speak. Everything Connor had thought to himself was confirmed; and it was odd to hear him call his son a "posh bloke", by the way. Somewhat humorous coming from him.
He had seen his mother come back (and look younger), his father return (not look any younger), his descendent from the future came into light recently, and now his grandfather had shown himself. He thought to himself a while ago it shouldn't feel any different. For a while, it really hadn't. It didn't feel that way now that Edward had seemed to fully take in all that info and now they were confronted with it. Connor had to face this demon now.]
It was true then.
I have only heard of my grandfather through those stories I had spoke of to you. When you introduced yourself as a "Kenway", I had a feeling but I could not say for certain when all I had were words and nothing else.

[Maybe. Okay, yeah, he will. But Haytham gave him a funny reaction too; perhaps there's something he's still missing here, in the grander scheme of things.]
no subject
It is not that.
[After all, all he ever knew was-]
I cannot be disappointed in a man I only knew through words and nothing else. As an Assassin who plundered with his crew on the seas in a ship. Not as a man who was a father and a grandfather.
[Basically he had been trying to deal with the situation knowing full well he could be looking at family he didn't really know an inkling about. Did it mean anything then? What sort of opportunity would this be if it was nothing he had ever thought he could experience in his own lifetime on Earth?]
no subject
Aye, is that true? [Why he and Connor would never meet in future is something Edward would ask his son, but he could barely get anything out of the man last they spoke. He doesn't much like being on the clueless end, here, but what can he do?] Listen, I didn't intend to be a bother coming in here and running my mouth off, but it seems I am, and I'm sorry for that.
[Maybe he should just leave. Given Haytham certainly hadn't seemed to have wanted to talk to him, maybe his grandson is the same way.]
candace i am yelling so much at this i love you
Guilt.
It couldn't have been easy for Edward, he had to think to himself. He saw his own son all grown into something he probably didn't want him to be. It all felt familiar to the Native when he looked at it that way. Or rather, just on the other end of the stick. Family relations just couldn't be normal for them, could it?
No matter how Connor could possibly look into the situation though, he could never understand exactly how Edward was feeling; but he didn't want to complicate it further.]
No, you have done nothing of the sort.
[...]
I am the one who should be sorry. I had not meant to complicate anything for you.
<3
[And Edward likes dogs as much as the next man, so he doesn't especially want to feel like he kicked a puppy. As for the apology, he just shrugs noncommittally. Complicated, perhaps, but Haytham's turned out the gentleman of high breeding Edward had wanted his children to be, and Connor's mother is certainly strong and beautiful. There's probably far more to it than that, and much Edward still doesn't yet know. But so far so good?
Haytham hurry up and marry Ziio already and give him more grandbabies.]I'm used to complications, don't you worry about that. I don't know as much about you as I'd like, but I'm proud to see I've a grandson carrying on the Brotherhood's cause.
<333 kill me and my heart rn
At Edward's first comment, he had to stop himself from apologizing again. He had to quickly evaluate himself on what to do and how to react. He had to shape himself up and not look quite so "whipped". He was better than that and he wanted to be better in front of Edward for some reason.
He then heard Edward speak again and it struck him in a different way. Edward said he was...proud of him? That was surely something that spun around in Connor's head a few dozen times. Then there was being called "grandson"; something he was going to have to get used to, but nothing about it he disliked.
Yet again though, Edward said he was proud of him.
Haytham said that once, before he died. Like before, he just stayed quiet to listen and let it sink in.
Soon enough, a small curve came on his face. He looked somewhat amused, which could have had Edward ease if he was truly worried about his little grandbaby.]
Neither do I, though it is not too late. That is something we could change, Grandfather.

[Does he have wrinkles? He knows he's kind of grizzled-looking and scarred, but come on.]
But that's beside the point, I suppose. If you ever have any questions about me, ask away. It's no bother.
no subject
Alright, I heed. "Edward" should suffice then, should it?
[He gave a small nod of his head.]
I will. As would I.
[Then suddenly, he uttered a few simple words that were said in a very friendly and lighthearted tone. Like he really was to mean what he would say and it came with utmost sincerity.]
Thank you.

[No being a gloomy grandbaby around this one. He'll bother you until you're amused or exasperated enough to snap out of it.]
Don't mention it, lad. I'd propose we have a drink and a chat together sometime, our mundanes willing, but I shouldn't be passing any bad habits onto you, eh? [He grins, mostly joking. Connor's a grown man, Edward's sure he knows his away around a tavern.]

This was really the start of something great and Connor probably didn't know the extent of it. Edward seemed like a pretty good guy, despite being a pirate. But labels don't mean much at all and Connor did hear Edward was loyal to his "rough" crew. Connor stood by it when he said, in his own way, that he somewhat respected a man who went to find his own desires free from the control like the Templars pushed.
With the subject at hand, that sounded pretty nice. Connor didn't drink much as he didn't care for the taste at all. However, a drink or so while they just chatted in a tavern was something Connor had done with his recruits, no, friends. That's what this was at the moment, right? A start of a friendship between two Assassins; who happened to be related.
Connor wasn't the greatest at talking about himself but he was okay with doing it if it could help Edward to get to know his grandson.]
I would be honored.
[Heh.]
I do not drink much so I do not think you need to be concerned of that.
