Mistletoe, everyone's favorite annual magical event

I really don't appreciate you snickering and poking fun at my culture. And can we please not talk about my father in this context? Whatever he thinks you know Mother would be furious.

Even if it is kind of nice, and even if people were starting to change their minds about gene-matching, it's completely inappropriate to have me... mash mouths with random people just because it's funny. Not to mention the structural damage that always happens when people take me by surprise.

Stop calling me cute when I blush!

You do understand that it is your reactions to such events that most continue to find endearing and amusing, and so it would be best to limit the absurdity of said reactions?

[This is Ben's most soothing tone; it's not very soothing. More like (completely unintentionally) obnoxiously reasonable.]

I was not being critical.

'Mash mouths'? I assure you, there are much more pleasant ways to describe a kiss. Some of which are even sensual.

[Oh look, it worked.]

There are highly romanticized novels on the subject. I suppose it'd depend on the author and the reader. Most people might agree, though, that the situation's a thrill.

[His tone grows grave, because-- well, because he can simply make it so.] And humans just love adrenaline.

Is magical mistletoe strung up every other step? I fail to see how you couldn't avoid it, if you really wanted.
