A--and it looks like I won't be able to-- you know, transform and stuff -- while I'm there!

[ she pulls her face, looking more than a little anxious about this. ]

Will I... will I be okay in a place like that? It sounds kind of... [ wrinkling up her nose as she says this; ] not good.

Just promise I won't die, okay?

[ another face pull. She still looks kind of unimpressed, but she's a little more relaxed, knowing someone else will be in the same boat. ]

It's-- kinda frustrating, you know? I'd just gotten used to it, and now all of a sudden, it's being taken away. And I'm not sure about being stuck in a creepy city with a bunch of strangers.

I can understand, trust me. I've been trained nearly all my life to be who I am today.

[ But, Hikaru broke out in to a grin easily. ]

I know my mun said that whatever "CR" we have won't transfer to the game itself, but I'll be your friend there. That way, it won't be so lonely, you know?

[ the mention of friends makes her eyes light up a bit and gets Stephanie to smile a little more. She pushes her glasses up her nose a little, and nods. ]

Mm! That'd -- that'd be nice. We can look out for each other and make sure we don't get into too much trouble.

[ There's a smile! Hikaru will happily widen her own smile. ]

Indeed! And, if we do get in to trouble, I can protect you. I'm a police officer first before anything.

[ That gets a little laugh out of her, and her smile brightens a little more. ]

I'm -- well, I'm not trained or anything, but I'll do my best to protect you too!

[ she feels a little bit silly saying it, considering who Hikaru is, and quickly changes to the subject, to dance around the awkwardness. ]

W--we're supposed to be able to regain our powers there... somehow, anyway. So maybe it won't be too bad!

[ Hikaru slings an arm around Stephanie and she grins at her. ]

That can change. The training part, that is. I may not have the facilities nor the tools necessary to train you like I have been, but we can work with what's there.

[ She doesn't necessarily feel awkward. Being an officer of the law allowed her to not feel like that around others she didn't know too well. ]

I see... Huh, that's a nice goal to work towards so we can protect others. Although, I agree with you that it won't be too bad! We've just gotta stick together.

[ Stephanie jumps visibly at the sudden physical contact but she doesn't pull back -- in fact, her smile widens, into an almost shy grin, and she nods eagerly in agreement. ]

Yes! We can do our best without our powers and then once we get them back -- w--we'll be even stronger and we'll be able to work even harder.

[ maybe being at this game place won't be too bad, after all. Provided she doesn't randomly grow wings or anything. ]

If we stick together, we'll be able to do anything. Or that's what Estelle says all the time, anyway.

[ At first, Hikaru was about to remove her arm since she can see that Stephanie is uncomfortable with it. However, when she sees the grin, she relaxes herself. ]

Mmhmm! The powers only enhance our own inner strength. We'll be able to protect others much better when they return.

[ Well... If growing wings was a part of it, she supposed that would be okay. ]

Trust me, I won't let you out of my sight. You're my friend and I'm gonna protect you.

Mm -- once we get used to protecting people without them -- well, we'll be that much stronger once they come back. [ she's refusing to entertain the notion that they might not come back. Pessimism isn't a good trait for magical girls, after all. ]

I'll -- I'll do my best to make sure you don't have to protect me. [ she says this with a weak smile. ] But I'll do my best to protect you too!

[ that said, she holds up her hand, pinky finger extended. ]

Pinky promise on it.

Exactly! We've gotta keep hoping. [ She wholeheartedly agrees with that. After all, she normally turns her sadness in to determination to work even harder than she did before. ]

Hey, it's okay! I don't mind being relied on. It actually makes me happy to know I'm strong enough to protect others. [ A grin and a nudge.

She slipped off a glove to reveal her hand before wrapping her pinky across her own. ]

It's a promise!

[ With their pinkie fingers entwined, Stephanie pumps their hands once, firmly and beams at Hikaru. If she's not alone in this... game, she guesses it won't be too bad. Especially if she has a friend with her. ]

I promise I'll protect you, and do my best to protect everyone else!

[ another pump of their joined hands, to further underline her little vow. ]

Now-- now that I know I'll have a friend, I don't feel so nervous anymore.

[bounces]

Yeah, I dunno about this kind of place either. The whole no-no-powers things a major bummer too.

I can still wreck some major Dark Vengeance on their butts if they try anything though!

[ s--suddenly looking very, very nervous. ]

Th--that sounds a bit... overkill?

Huh? You don't think they deserve a lil' DV for the whole kidnapping deal?
