[ josh has dealt with some pretty intimidating people though; kind of a thing where he's from, and especially with the sport he plays ]

Don't let it get you down. Coach says that it's probably just because she's really good at what she does and the rest of us look like civilians to her.

Ah.. well, I suppose it's because I am a civilian? I'm not anything special like you guys, I just play High School level tennis! I don't think I'm even good enough to make it pro, but... It gives me time enough to become a journalist in the future, I think! [she smiles again because you look like you need sunshine and rainbows, josh.]

Nice to meet you, Koharu. I'm no expert where it concerns tennis [ because... lol, AMERICAN FOOTBALL, YO ] but I know a bit.

What style do you play?

[ she is such a cutie-pie, so he's grinning a little. ]

Serve and volley, mostly! But that's 'cause I like playing doubles! I think it's the best style to support your partner. [Grins~]

[ he chuckles -- well, smiles, and shakes his head. ] Nah. I've seen some videos, but it's not my game of choice.

[ he's watched a bit of doubles. teamwork is important and the best players usually have in mind supporting their counterparts as a priority. ] I play football. [ a shrug. ] Quarterback.

[squiddles]

Ooh, football! [okay so she thinks of soccer first, but then he said 'quarterback' and that's not really soccer, so.] American football, right? I think there's a manga about that, but I've never really picked it up, haha!

What's it like? I mean, you don't really kick the ball during the game, right?

[she's really interested. because SPORTS!!!]

Yup! [ he loves talking about this, so it's no trouble for him to explain. ]

Well, you do. But not as much when you do soc-- [ he amends that, because he knows how some schoolmates of his used to get touchy about the distinction ] football.

To be fair, I've never tried tennis, so I guess we're even.

Mostly you have two sets of eleven players, for your defensive line and then your offensive line and you try to win the field by moving the ball closer to the goal on each end.

[ he pauses and makes a face. it's hard talking about the game in abstract terms. if he had the time and the resources he'd show her. ]

I'm really bad at explaining, sorry. [ y e p. incredibly sheepish. ] There's this pretty cool movie from way back when though. If you have the time, you should ask your mun to show it to you. It's uh... "Remember the Titans". It's really cool.

Oh, no, that's okay! I'm learning a lot already! I'm always interested in learning all kinds of sports, you know? I used to play in the girl's soccer team [yeah, she says soccer because that's how you say it in Japan!] in Middle School. I played a bit of softball and baseball, too, but I really enjoy tennis! [omg don't let her keep talking she'll go on forever (unless you're someone called Yagyuu, then she'll go turtle on you and-- ahem)]

I'll totally bug her to watch that movie sometime, though!
