I was going over the latest research on Hidden Abilities sent by Professor Juniper in Unova.

And what did you find?

[Giselle may be a brat sometimes, but she is genuinely interested in all things Pokemon. Maybe it's her "know-it-all" personality?]

I believe some of the Pokémon Eggs that I've recently acquired may contain Pokémon with new Abilities. Some even unseen!

Interesting... I guess there's always new Pokemon out there.

No, no... These are current Pokémon with new abilities!

Take the starter Pokémon I give out to new trainers. Each has Blaze, Torrent and Overgrow. For the longest time, these abilities were the only ones known to those species.

If what Professor Juniper is saying is correct, each Pokémon has a rare, hidden ability, meaning they can have two, even three special abilities per species! It's fascinating!

Wait, so moves that aren't known by anyone at all? You're saying these Pokemon might have special abilities that they haven't actually shown us.

That's an interesting theory.

Professor Juniper says she's seen Pokémon in Unova that don't follow the ability archetype we've known since we discovered Abilities.

I was busy nursing a Cyndaquil Egg when I was taken. I must have dozed off...

[Giselle isn't familiar with Unova personally, but she's heard enough about it.]

The question now is that... Are these Pokemon changing in a sense? It's curious thing all on it's own. I'd be interested in help figure out what exactly it is.

[What? Giselle...? Wanting to help someone? Get out of here. She is a curious girl and very scholarly girl underneath her "better than you" stuck up attitude.]

It has crossed my mind that this may be tied into Pokémon Evolution in some way. It almost certainly is a change on a species basis.

It is my theory that these hidden Abilities can be passed down via breeding, a lot like how many traits of the parent Pokémon can be passed to the parent. Perhaps we'll see more Pokémon show with these hidden powers.

That would make sense... When you breed two different Pokemon together, it's likely to get new abilities that you wouldn't normally have.

Although that being said, I really haven't heard much about what kinds of things happen when you breed two different Pokemon together.

I was performing research into Hidden Abilities of Pokémon.

What sort of hidden abilities? You could say I am a Pokémon researcher myself. I have trained under the guided hand of Professor Augustine Sycamore within the Kalos region.

A-Ah! Professor Sycamore! Yes. I've heard of him. I'm Professor Elm of Johto.

Uh. Well. As you'll know, all Pokémon have a set ability, whether it be Flame Body which burns an enemy on contact, or Torrent which ups Water-type moves when the Pokémon is in a pinch... but it seems some might have a second, or third, hidden ability.

A pleasure. I am Lysandre. [He held a gloved hand out towards the professor. Good to get acquainted with others, right?]

Indeed. I know much about the base abilities of Pokémon such as the ones you describe. What I am researching along with professor Sycamore, is Mega Evolution. What other forms Pokémon can take when they are shown a greater power.

Mega Evolution! Yes! Professor Oak told me about it, but it's one aspect of Evolution I don't know too much about, though.

I would love to find out more.

Oh! [He takes Lysandre's hand.] Yes, a pleasure to meet you.

[His handshake is strong but friendly. A small spark appears in Lysandre's eyes. Is that so?]

I did not know any other professors were interested in such a topic. I have no doubt that Augustine can enlighten you some more on the subject than I. Yet, he has taught me much. [Oh yes.]

W-Well... Professor Oak does say I'm the best authority on Pokémon Evolution... I-I wouldn't say that as such... I am fascinated by all aspects of evolution, though.

I have yet to meet the famous Professor Oak of Kanto. I have heard a lot about him though. What aspects fascinate you most?

Oh, you're the regional professor from Johto, yes? If I may, I'm studying one of the Johto legendaries and would love to hear what you have to say on Lugia.
