[That's not in disbelief. It's actually something between curious concern and excited interest (as strange as that sounds).] I suppose I'll have to find out for myself, won't I?
[She brushes him off just like that. Of course, she does take his words plenty seriously. But it's not like she has a choice in the matter... And her whole life has been on the edge like this. She craves it.]
[The Doctor is just all grins and obliviousness over here.]
Can't you bother her to speed up the process a bit? After all, adventure waits for no one. Why, if you have to wait, the mystery of COMPASS might finally be solved before you arrive!
I highly doubt it, though. The mystery seems to be a terribly big one.
Goodness, really? How many incarnations did you travel with?
[Ah, naive Charley.]
This is less of a puzzle, more of a prison. Or, maybe it is like a puzzle, but one that has had half the pieces removed, the other half are suffering from water damage, and there's someone standing there ready to stab you in the hand if you get close to solving it.
Oh, but you're so wrong. [Her tone is all too playful as she picks up on so much. Impatient as always, isn't he? Don't mind her as she takes a casual step around him with a glance from the bottom up. Younger, was it? Hard to tell.]
[Ah. She smiles wider at that, if possible, and brings a finger to her lips.]
Ah, ah-- spoilers!
[Dropping that hand now, she resumes.] Everything's worth a shot or two, my dear. Where would we be if some of the greatest minds of the world gave up over a few soggy pieces?
