If you want to put me in another place, the logical choice would be to take me before I've been shot.

You can't guarantee that I would receive appropriate medical attention when I arrived. Letting your character die immediately would defeat the point of playing, wouldn't it?

Not necessarily - perhaps there would be some point in keeping you wounded and weak for the good of the plot.

If your mundane is anything like mine, they no doubt will do whatever needs to be done to you for the sake of keeping the plot interesting.
