Perhaps it is not in spite of what has been done, but because of it. If it is something that truly needed to be done, then whether or not it is right or wrong may not matter.

It can be very difficult to dissuade someone once they have set their mind to it.

Yet everything that I believe is necessary may prove futile. And then my actions would be nothing more than senseless murder. I've accepted that, but as you say, others can be harder to convince.

Can something that is inherently wrong truly be the right course of action?

It is not possible for things to be inherently wrong or right. Actions are actions. How they are perceived by others is how 'right and wrong' is determined.

And what about our own perceptions? Does the intent behind the action have any bearing?
